HPU Baseball Announces Leadership Change: Cozart Out

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University Athletics Director Dan Hauser and Craig Cozart have mutually agreed to a change in the head coaching leadership of the baseball program, effective immediately.

“I would like to thank Craig Cozart for his leadership and commitment to our baseball program and the High Point community over the last twelve years,” Hauser said.

Cozart joined the HPU staff in June 2008 and was the seventh head baseball coach in school history. He compiled an overall record of 339-337 in the Purple and White with a 163-140 record in Big South Conference play.

Off the field, academics improved for the Panthers under the leadership of Cozart. High Point earned an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the first time in school history in 2018 and in 2020 had the program’s first Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the Big South in Harrison Smith.

A search for the next head coach will begin immediately. The HPU Athletics Department will not make further comments on the search until the process is complete.
