Mike Everett held down the AD job at Northwest Guilford for a couple of seasons/years, and prior to that Mike was the head softball coach at Northwest, in addition to serving as the girls assistant basketball coach on a couple of NCHSAA 4-A State Championship teams, plus he was the assistant baseball coach at Northwest Guilford for several seasons…Mike worked with head coach Darlene Joyner on girls basketball, and he assisted Sonny Gann, for Northwest Guilford baseball…
Jason Allred has been the Northwest Guilford boys soccer coach for 17 seasons, and Allred told the News and Record’s Joe Sirera that he was ready to move up to become the NWG AD, and it was time for him to move on as the NWG boys soccer coach after 17 years at the helm….
Mike Everett replaced the NWG long-time AD just two seasons back, and that happened when John Hughes stepped down at Northwest Guilford, to become the assistant principal at Eastern Guilford High School….Last year, 2020-2021, John Hughes was back at Northwest Guilford, as the Vikings’ assistant principal….
Mike Everett is a Western Guilford-grad where he was an outstanding baseball and basketball player…Everett went on to star in baseball for the High Point College Purple Panthers….Mike became the assistant basketball coach to Jerry Steele at High Point College…Later on Mike Everett was the head boys basketball coach at Western Guilford HS, Southeast Guilford HS and Lee County HS, in addition to all of the duties he performed at Northwest Guilford High School…
This seems to the end of the road for Mike Everett, as it appears as he is stepping down from his AD job at NWG, and that he will also be retiring from his position as a teacher in the Guilford County Schools system…
Mike Everett suffered a heart attack, back in the late Summer of 2019, right after he took over as the Northwest Guilford AD, but his health has improved and gotten better over the past couple of years….
Good work turned by Mike Everett from over the years, and he had quite the athletic/sports career…Much of it, and most of it spent right here in Guilford County, serving the Guilford County Schools…
