Coach Landon Kimrey said he expects to start either James Newsome or Slater Ward, in Northern Guilford’s NCHSAA Round Two game, on Thursday at Northern Guilford….In Round Two, Coach Kimrey said the NG Nighthawks will have to be smarter base runners…NG did not make many mistakes at on Tuesday evening, in their 10-0 victory over Cape Fear, but he did say his Diamond Hawks did make a couple of base-running mistakes, and they will have to do a better job at that on Thursday….
The big thing for Northern Guilford will be to repeat what they did on Tuesday, and if they can that, they will be in good shape…Coach Kimrey agreed that Northern is a hard-hitting team, and they must continue to swing the bats, and put the ball in play…Key for the pitching staff, “Keep throwing strikes”…..
Coach Kimrey added that his (15-0) Nighthawk squad has played good baseball all season long, but they did hit a small lull at mid-season, and that Northern’s games vs. the Northeast Guilford Rams, were key contests….NEG’s Cooper White pitched well against Northern, and the NEG Rams took Northern to nine innings in the second game between the two clubs…
