N.C. State Baseball vs. Vanderbilt in Round Two of the College World Series tonight from Omaha, Nebraska

OMAHA, Neb. – NC State baseball’s (36-18) matchup is set in the second round of the 2021 College World Series, as it will square off in the winner’s bracket of ‘Bracket One’ with fourth-seeded Vanderbilt (46-15) Monday, June 21 at 7 p.m. ET at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.

LAST TIME OUT
NC State opened the tournament with a 10-4 win over No. 9 seed Stanford on Saturday afternoon. The Wolfpack scored the first six runs of the game, and despite the Cardinal closing the score to 6-4 in the seventh, the Pack added four more insurance runs in the ninth to secure the win.

QUICK HITS FROM THE OPENING ROUND WIN
*Jonny Butler drove in a career-high five RBIs with a team-best 3-for-4 outing. His RBIs marked the most by an NC State player a College World Series game.

**Butler and Devonte Brown hit their 14th and 13th home runs of the season, respectively, in the contest. NC State has hit at least one home run in six of its seven NCAA Tournament games, including each of the last five.

***NC State has now won its opening game in each of its three trips to the College World Series.

****The team’s 10 runs scored were the most in program history in a College World Series game, and its win margin of six runs is the second-most in a game of that caliber.

******The Pack improved its record away from home to 23-6.

******Austin Murr became the first player to record a hit on the first pitch of a College World Series since 2010.

*******Vojtech Mensik became the first Czech Republic native to ever play in a College World Series game.

********Evan Justice picked up his 12th save of the season and now ranks third all-time in the record books for most saves in a single season. He is three away from the school record.

*********Reid Johnston now leads the pitching staff with a 9-3 record after going six strong innings on Saturday.

**********Saturday was NC State’s first-ever win over Stanford, as the teams had met twice previously in the 2006 NCAA Austin Regional and the Cardinal won both games.

SERIES HISTORY
Monday will be the fifth all-time meeting between NC State and Vanderbilt, and the series is evened at 2-2. The two teams last met in 2012 at the NCAA Raleigh Regional, and after suffering a 9-8 opening-round loss to the Commodores the Pack earned 6-5 and 9-7 victories to win the regional.
