Excellent effort by the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ starting pitcher Michael Burrows, who worked five innings of no-hit baseball on Wednesday afternoon, and he ended up going five and a-third innings, giving up 1 run, on one hit, with just one walk, and 10 big strikeouts from Burrows….No-hit baseball and 10 K’s over five innings for Michael Burrows on Wednesday, and he is our “Player of the Game”…The Hoppers pitching staff, led by Burrows, Bear Bellomy, and Colin Selby, struck out 15 Asheville Tourist batters on the day…

The Hopper hitters got it going early on Wednesday, as Matt Frazier got things started with a Triple to lead off the bottom of the first inning…Frazier later scored, and right behind him, the Hoppers third batter of the day, Liover Peguero, blasted a solo home run to deep left field…Later on in the game, and it was in the second inning, newcomer Blake Sabol hit a solid home run to center field, and not to be out-done, Matt Frazier continued his hot hitting streak, with a home run to go along with his Triple, and Frazier’s home run was solo homer, that came in the fifth inning…Will Matthiessen stroked/lined a steady double to left field, and at one stage of the game, the Hoppers’ hits were two home runs, a Triple and a Double, and there were no singles in sight…Three homers in the game today for the Grasshoppers, and all three of the long balls were of the solo version/persuasion…..

Here’s how the Hoppers’ hitting went on the day….Matt Frazier 2-4/HR/Triple/2 Runs…Frazier now with 14 HR’s and 36 RBI on the season….Frazier left today’s game with a team-leading .327 batting average…Liover Peguero 1-3/BB/HR…Home run #6 on the season for Peguero…Blake Sabol 1-2/BB/HR…Sabol’s first hit as a Hopper, was a homer…Will Matthiessen 1-2/Double…Jared Triolo 1-4/Run/2 SB’s…Matt Gorski 1-4/2 SB’s…Nick Gonzales 0-3/BB…Dylan Shockley 0-2/BB…

The Asheville Tourists pitching staff struck out 12 Hoppers on the afternoon, with the Tourist starter Tyler Brown fanning 6 Hoppers, and from the bullpen, Jordan Sprinkle took down 6 more Hoppers, by way of the K….

Again, the Greensboro Grasshoppers starting pitcher was the man of the hour, too sweet to sour, and he had the power on his pitches today…Michael Burrows struck out the first five batters he faced to begin the baseball game, that’s how dominant he was on this Wednesday….Ten total K’s for the pitcher Burrows, and boy was he in charge in this Greensboro Grasshoppers victory…
