HiTom Homers Power Big Win Against Asheboro

High Point/Thomasville, NC – Two of the Coastal Plain League’s greatest offenses faced off on Thursday night at Finch Field, as the High-Point Thomasville HiToms (18-11) hosted the Asheboro Copperheads (15-16). The result was, as expected, a high-octane affair — 18 combined runs in a 12-6 HP-T victory.

Tape measure shots from Hogan Windish and Noah Ledford, measuring 410 and 458(!) feet respectively, were the highlights of a HiToms offensive showcase. With that home run, his eleventh of the season, Windish continued to defend his spot at the top of the CPL home run leaders.

The HiToms took a team approach to victory, with seven of the nine players in the batting order driving in a run. Ellis Stokes was 3-5 with three runs scored, stealing his 18th and 19th bags off of the Copperheads. Stokes’ seventh inning double was of the hustle variety on a shallow ground ball single past the first base bag.

Strike-throwers paved the way to victory on the mound for HP-T. Jake Tate provided five solid innings and recorded the win. Tyrese Hearst struck out four in three innings of relief, and KJ Wells shut the door in the 9th, striking out two.

With the two strikeouts, KJ Wells has struck out at least two batters in each appearance this year. In total, Wells has eight innings pitched, 19 strikeouts, and a tiny 1.12 ERA.

The HiToms are back in action on Friday night, to host the Martinsville Mustangs on Burgers and Brews Night. First pitch of tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 7:00. Tickets are still available, and the game is available to stream on flobaseball.tv.
