Peterson Wins Pitchers’ Duel Over Asheboro

High Point/Thomasville, NC – Ben Peterson was phenomenal for the High Point-Thomasville HiToms (20-12) in their Deep River matchup with the Asheboro Copperheads (17-17) Friday, tossing seven shutout innings en route to a 3-0 HiTom victory.

Peterson’s excellent command and high velocity were crucial in sitting down Copperhead batters. He finished the contest with seven strikeouts while allowing just three hits and three walks. He pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the 7th inning before Luke Davis and KJ Wells cleaned things up in the 8th and 9th. Wells got the save with two strikeouts in the ninth, raising his season total to 24 across 10 innings.

The HiToms were held to just two hits but made the most of them. CJ Johnson hit a solo shot in the 4th inning for HP-T’s first hit of the ballgame, and Noah Ledford added a two-run homer in the 6th to extend the HiTom lead to 3-0, where it would remain for the rest of the contest.

These two teams will meet again on Saturday night, this time at McCrary Park in Asheboro. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, and the game is available to stream on flobaseball.tv.
