Christmas in July was personified on Friday night, at First National Bank Field….The Winston-Salem Dash were in the giving mood, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers were obliged to be taking and stealing….The Hoppers stole the Dash nearly blind, as Greensboro stole five bases…Matt Frazier, Liover Peguero, LoLo Sanchez, Jared Triolo, and Nick Gonzales were all opening up their presents early, and they all found stolen bases, in their baseball stockings…

Lolo Sanchez scored one run in the game, and this is how he got it….He got it signed, sealed and delivered, as in Gift Wrapped…He was just given his lone run of the game….Sanchez walked against Dash pitcher Edgar Navarro in the bottom of the sixth inning, and then he took second on a Wild Pitch, he took third on a Wild Pitch, and then he came home and scored on a Wild Pitch….Gift Wrapped for LoLo Sanchez on Christmas in July, at First National Bank Field…

Like we were saying, the Dash were in giving mood, during the Friday night game…Winston-Salem also lost their manager(Ryan Newman) and their DH(Lazaro Leal) when they both were ejected by the base umpire Willie Traynor, for arguing Leal being thrown out at first base…Leal was called out on a 1-5-3 play, that saw the ground ball go off of the foot of Hoppers’ pitcher Quinn Priester, it did a ricochet roll straight to the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ third baseman Jared Triolo, and Triolo threw out Leal at first base…Close play, but Triolo was making outstanding plays like that at third base defensively, all night long…No need to argue, take your lumps, and roll…

And how about the job Quinn Priester did on the mound, on Friday night…First of all, Priester went seven innings…I don’t remember seeing a Hooper pitcher go seven innings this season, before Priester did his thing on Friday…In addition to Priester protecting the bullpen, with his seven innings of work, he gave up just one run, on one hit…Priester was throwing a perfect game through two and a-third innings, and kept a No-hitter going for four innings, before he surrendered a solo home run to Samir Duenez, in the top of the fifth inning…That turned out to be the only run the Dash would post…One run, one hit, one walk and five strikeouts by Priester, in his ace outing…

The Hoopers’ bullpen was equally effective, with newcomer Michell Miliano going one inning, giving up no runs on one hit, with a walk, and no strikeouts…Garrett Leonard finished things up in the ninth, with no runs, on no hits, with two walks, and two strikeouts…
(A two-hitter from the Hoppers’ pitching staff, on Friday night.)
