HiToms Host Savannah Bananas in Game Two of Divisional Series

High Point/Thomasville, NC – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms (25-19) battle the top-seeded Savannah Bananas (36-8) in game two of the three-game West Divisional Series. The HiToms took game one of the series on Sunday, shocking the Bananas in Savannah 4-0. One HiToms win sends them to the Coastal Plain League Petitt Cup Championship Series.

The HiToms have three Petitt Cups in their history but are seeking to break their 13-year championship drought this season. The HiToms have hit 65 home runs this year, their most home runs in a season since 2007, when they hit 69 home runs in a Championship season. HP-T was successful in expansive Grayson Stadium, winning game one behind a pair of triples and outstanding pitching and defense.

Chace Harris shutout the league-best Savannah offense for seven innings, before the back of the HiToms bullpen did their work, closing the game. Closer KJ Wells struck out two in the ninth, finishing his 14th game of the season.

Tonight, the HiToms look to keep the Bananas off track with Will Lancaster on the mound. A Lexington, NC native and Charlotte 49er, Lancaster moved into the rotation mid-season after five strong relief appearances. Lancaster has been one of the most dependable arms in the rotation for HP-T allowing a maximum of two runs in a start this year.

Because of the dependability, Lancaster has a 2.17 ERA, best in the HiToms rotation. Among qualified CPL pitchers, Lancaster ranks sixth in ERA, four behind Monday’s Bananas starter Joe Miller, who leads the lead in strikeouts.

First pitch for Monday’s playoff game is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. Purchase your tickets today at hitoms.com/playoff-tickets/.
