High Point Central Baseball Coach Andy Harper gone after Battle with COVID-19

Long-time High Point Central baseball coach Andy Harper is gone…He has died after losing his battle with COVID-19…It all happened fast, as we were hoping to get some prayer request mentions up here for Coach Harper, we read today that he is gone, he has died…

Our thoughts and prayers do go out to his family and friends…Much-respected high school baseball coach in our area, and he worked not only with HP Central, but also with the independent Triad Baseball Academy…

Coach Harper played high school baseball and basketball at Kerwin Christian School, in Kernersville…He graduated from Kerwin, and played football and baseball there at Kerwin for Coach Dick Gerber…And Coach Harper played basketball at Kerwin, for Coach Jerry Bailey…He thought a lot of Coach Gerber and Coach Bailey…

Classic photo with Andy Harper and his high school baseball coach at Kerwin Christian, Coach Dick Gerber….

I first met and got to know Coach Andy Harper when High Point Central was playing in the Farm Bureau Insurance Spring Baseball Tournaments, at the Greensboro Grasshoppers stadium…Coach Harper was a very big part of our local high school baseball community…He goes all the way to Kerwin Christian, and all the way to High Point Central High School…

RIP:Coach Andy Harper

  3. Harp…. I don’t even know where to start. You were my safe place in school, and the only person who would tell me I was “being a teenager” not sure how I would have made it through school without your slick come backs 🙂 You’ve hit a ultimate grand slam Harpster ?? Rest easy.

  4. Coach Harper was my coach back when he was at parkland was also one of my teachers and I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher and mentor my prayers go to his family rest easy coach

  5. When Andy’s playing career ended, he became an assistant to me. He was a great student of the game. It was not always baseball. It was teaching young men respect for the game. It was important to Andy to mentor young men to be good adults. I am truly saddened by his passing.
