Friday Night Football Finish:Football Finish for 9/17/2021(Grimsley, Page, Northern Guilford and Northwest Guilford are all [1-0] in the Metro)

It is going to be exciting week-by-week in the new Metro 4-A Conference, with Grimsley, Page, Northern Guilford and Northwest Guilford all starting out at (1-0) on the new conference season…

This should make for fun and exciting football on a weekly basis, as our local teams lock horns this year…

Grimsley starts out at (1-0), but the Whirlies had to fight back and hang on to win their game over the Southeast Guilford Falcons…SEG led much of the game, and then the Whirlies pulled it out in the fourth quarter…Grimsley is resilient and they will have tough tests remaining with Northwest Guilford, Page and Northern Guilford…

Page is improving, and the Pirates did not beat/defeat a slack team on Friday night, when they got the first win at Page, for Coach Doug Robertson…Page over Southwest Guilford, 41-20, and after beginning the season at (0-3), and going (0-7) last Spring, Page can now say they are Undefeated in the conference, at (1-0)….Page is at Ragsdale next Friday night, and who knows, we might be sitting here talking about a (2-0) Page Pirate team, after next week’s games are complete…More on the Page-SWG game coming up down below…Page coach Doug Robertson got the water bucket dumped on him tonight, and I bet it sure felt good…I have had some of the Page folks from 2011 talking about the days of the 4-AA State Champion Page Pirates, and mentioning that they ought to do a 10-year Anniversary Recognition of the Pirates on that State Title team back, in 2911…
Here some of the players and coaches from the 2011 team, and it was ten years ago….

More from Friday night September 17, 2021…Grimsley with an impressive 27-17 win over the Southeast Guilford Falcons…Grimsley will be tested each week this season…Northwest flattened the Western Guilford Hornets, and Northern Guilford did similar damage to the Ragsdale Tigers…This Metro 4-A Conference circa 2021, is going to a LOT of fun…

Dudley just flat out flew out High Point Central, 57-0, and I think that score was 51-0 at halftime…Dudley will going through their current 3-A Conference like a dose of salts, and that might be a bad thing for Dudley come playoff time, since with their competition being down, it may hurt them in the postseason, with their lack of competition….Eastern Guilford is coming on, and the EG Wildcats may be able to give Dudley some comp, toward the end of the regular season…Eastern Guilford over Northeast Guilford in a big way tonight…

More Friday Night Finish news coming your way…Got to get you posted for now….

Page came right back and got a 1-yard TD run from senior RB Trevon Hester, and with the Tylar Elliot kick being good, Page takes a 7-6 lead in this ballgame…The TD was set up by a 60-plus yard kickoff return by the Pirates Jerron Blackwell…The Hester TD run came with 6:51 on the first quarter clock…

Blackwell made his name stick as he took over at quarterback and he ran into the end zone from 8 yards out, and with the Elliot kick, Page takes a 14-6 lead, with 1:15 to play in the first quarter…The Blackwell run was right up the middle, and he went almost untouched into the end zone…

Southwest is a battling group of Cowboys and there is no quit in Coach Doak’s kids…SWG got a two-yard run from their big RB Cam McCain, and McCain was in the fast lane to the goal line, and he crossed that goal, and his TD cut the Page lead to 20-12…The SWG PAT kick was blocked and it is Page over Southwest, 20-12…McCain’s TD happened with 9:25 to play in the second quarter….

Page gets a 31-yard field goal from Tylar Elliot, and the Pirates grab a 23-12 lead over SWG, with 7:40 to play in the second quarter…All of this scoring and we are still early in the second period….

Page lead over SWG, 29-12 at halftime…

With 10:40 to play in the 3rd quarter, SWG saw Cam McCain take off again on a 6-yard TD run, and SWG goes for the two-point conversion and they get it, with a pass from Joey McGinnis to Darius Hairston….With the eight-play, SWG has cut the overall Page lead to nine points, 29-20 Page, with 10:40 to go in the third quarter…

Trevon Hester scores again for Page, this time on a two-yard run, and after the PAT kick was blocked, Page leads SWG, 35-20…..We have 6:37 left in the third quarter, following the Page touchdown…
