Broncos’ Bradley Chubb to have ankle surgery, hopes to return this season

Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio previously told reporters that he had no timetable for the return of pass-rusher Bradley Chubb after the Pro Bowler re-injured his ankle during Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars that propelled Denver to 2-0 on the season.
Per Aric DiLalla of the team’s website, Chubb has since confirmed he will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle to remove a bone spur on Wednesday/today. He suffered the setback roughly three weeks ago and missed the regular-season opener against the New York Giants because of the issue.
The 25-year-old vowed to return for what he referred to as the “playoff push” portion of the campaign.
“I did everything I could to manage it and to try to come back and play,” Chubb explained. “I took the New York week … trying to calm it down just a little bit, and then this Jacksonville week I tried to do everything to get back on the field, and unfortunately, all those things weren’t working in my favor. “The thing [to do] is now just to go in, clean it up and be right back.”
Chubb tallied 12 sacks as a rookie in 2018 but was limited to four games the following year because of a torn ACL. In 14 contests last season, he recorded 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 42 total tackles, and nine tackles for loss en route to earning his first Pro Bowl selection.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur from his right ankle in May.
