Friday Night Finish:Friday Football is finished for 9/24/2021 and the Metro 4-A Conference is shaping up to be an interesting race

Friday Finish, and when they are finished with the Metro 4-A Conference regular battles, and all of the remaining dust has settled, it could looking kind of wild up near the top, in the middle, and at the bottom of the Metro 4-A…

Here is how it is looking so far after two weeks of Metro 4-A Conference play…
Grimsley(2-0) and now (5-0) overall…Western Guilford at Grimsley next Friday night…

Northern Guilford(2-0) and also (5-0) overall, just like the Grimsley Whirlies..Northern Guilford at Southwest Guilford next Friday.

Page(2-0)/(2-3 overall…Page is in the thick of the race, and the Pirates could spell trouble for many of the Metro 4-A teams…NWG comes over to meet the Page Pirates next Friday night….

Northwest Guilford(1-1) and now (3-2) overall…Could get real interesting as NWG travels to face Page next Friday night, at Marion Kirby Stadium…

Southwest Guilford(1-1)/(3-2)…Hosting NG next Friday…

Southeast Guilford(0-2)/2-3)…Ragsdale at SEG next Friday night…

Western Guilford(0-2)/1-4)…Headed to Grimsley next Friday…

Ragsdale(0-2)/1-4) …Going down to SEG, next Friday…

Grimsley and Northern Guilford looking toward (3-0) Metro 4-A after next Friday night’s games are completed…Will the Page Pirates join them there, at (3-0)???

From this past Friday night, Grimsley rolled over NWG in the second half, NG took down SEG real hard in the second half, SWG shut down the WG Hornets, Page took care of business at Ragsdale…
(How do you see this whole Metro 4-A Conference Chase settling out….Gonna be a tight race, in the ole’/new Metro on Friday nights.)

We saw Northern Guilford top Southeast Guilford 43-6 tonight/Friday and the NG defense looks just about as good, as the NG offense does…SEG took the early 6-0 lead in this contest, but Erik Westberg’s ‘Hawks woke up, and they left the SEG Falcons behind…Something like 5 key turnovers by the Falcons in the second half…Looking at four SEG fumbles, and one interception….SEG lost at least two of the fumbles that they put on the ground in second half…It was almost like NG was scoring at will in the second half, but SEG is a very good defensive team…NG very quick, and oh so very precise…

SEG got on the scoreboard first in this ballgame, when Keyshawn Wall carried the ball in from 30 yards out, and with his TD run, after the missed Aiden Bonde Xtra point, SEG led NG, 6-0…The TD came with 8:06 left to play in the first quarter…SEG looked good early, as the game wore on, Southeast Guilford got worn down…

Northern Guilford found their way to the scoreboard, with 8:54 remaining in the second quarter…NG QB Jack Mercer connected with his TE Vance Bolyard, on a seven-yard TD pass…The Grant McNeil PAT kick was successful for Northern, and the Nighthawks would move in front this game, 7-6…NG up by one point, and pointing toward more, as we get set to change the score again..

Jack Mercer threw his second TD pass of the game, on a 12-yard toss to Terrell Timmons…The McNeil PAT kick was good again, and NG led SEG 14-6…And the Nighthawks are reaching the point of no-return with 1:28 to play in the first half/second quarter….

At the half, NG was on top of SEG, 14-6…Halftime:Northern Guilford 14, Southeast Guilford 6

Moving on into the third quarter, NG takes off again, as McNeil connects on a 35-yard field goal, to give Northern a 17-6 advantage in this game, with 8:17 remaining in the third quarter…

This is becoming true Nighthawk Country, at Johnny Roscoe Stadium, and Coach Westberg has his ‘Hawks flying on all cylinders…Terrell Timmons scores his second touchdown of the night, and McNeil’s PAT kick is good again, and the NG Nighthawks have grabbed a 24-6 lead over Southeast Guilford, with 8:17 on the third quarter clock…Timmons has just scored on a 5-yard run…

NG RB Jordan McInnis gets loose on a one-yard TD run, and the two-point conversion fails, NG up on SEG, 30-6…NG 30, SEG 6…The most recent NG TD coming with 5:41 to play in the Third Quarter…

Northern Guilford gets one of the biggest plays of the game, as NG’s Benjamin Bluitt picks off a SEG Falcon pass and Bluitt takes it to the house, for a Pick Six Nighthawk touchdown…The two-point run is no good, and Northern has built a 36-6 lead over the SEG Falcons…We have 5:11 on the third quarter clock, and NG has a commanding 36-6 lead over SEG..

NG gets a nine-yard pass from NG QB Jack Mercer to Manny Elliott, the Grant McNeil kick is straight through the uprights and NG takes total control in this contest, leading SEG, 43-6…Elliott’s touchdown would be the last one of the evening for either team, and our third quarter score was the same as our Final Score:Northern Guilford 43, Southeast Guilford 6

The Steak n Shake Player of the Game on offense for Northern Guilford was Jordan McInnis…..
The Steak n Shake Player of the Game on defense from Northern Guilford was Benjamin Bluitt…..

We talked these selections over with NG Nighthawks’ head coach Erik Westberg, and with Joe Sirera(News and Record/HSXtra.com, and with Don Tilley from GreensborSports.com, and they all agreed with this input….
