Danny Pigee’s Pigskin Preview, with our Murphy Wainer Orthopedics Game of the Week, and our SayYes Guilford kickoff:SEG at SWG now at 6:30/Page at WG 7pm/Ragsdale at Grimsley 6:30pm/Atkins at EG 7pm

Thursday night Final:Dudley 68, Northeast Guilford 0
Dudley(6-1/4-0)/NEG)(0-6/0-3)

Friday night games for this week, with all set for 7:30pm kickoffs, unless otherwise noted
Northwest Guilford(1-2/3-3) at Northern Guilford(3-0/6-0)…6:30pm
This will be our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week, on GreensboroSports Radio…Pregame at 5:50pm, and our SayYes Guilford kickoff is coming up at 6:30pm….Jack Mercer, Jordan McInnis, Terrell Timmons, Manny Elliot and Zion Crawford leading the NG Nighthawks offense into this contest, with Jack Gooch, Jay Underwood, Conner Lachesky, up front on defense and Austin Flippen leading the linebacker crew, with Benjamin Bluitt and Ishmel Atkins pacing the DB’s…
Northwest Guilford counters with Tanner Ballou, Xavier Simmons, Bristol Carter, Trent Cloud and Jake Sowards on offense, plus Simmons, Dylan Kesselring, Conner Balton and Ryan Debow as your defensive leaders, from the NWG linebacking perch…

For Northern, QB Mercer is 71-119, with 1,149 yards, plus 22 TD passes and 5 interceptions…For NWG QB Ballou is 93-164, for 1,422 yards, with 15 TD passes and 11 interceptions…
Top rusher for Northern is Jordan McInnis with 660 yards rushing, on 74 carries and good for 8 TD’s…For Northwest you have Xavier Simmons, with 344 yards on 50 carries and good for 5 rushing TD’s…
Top receiver for NG is Manny Elliot with 429 yards on 21 receptions, and 8 TD’s…Right behind Elliot is Terrell Timmons with 375 yards on 22 receptions, and good for 8 TD’s receiving…
NWG shows us Bristol Carter with 528 yards receiving on 18 receptions, with 5 TD’s…Trent Cloud for NWG with 40 receptions, good for 485 yards, and 7 TD’s receiving…

The offensive talent between the two teams is fairly even, but you have to give an edge to Northern in the running department….I do think that Northwest can control this game with a large load of Xavier Simmons at RB…He was getting right at five yards a pop at Page, and then NWG needed him on defense, and the Vikings had to go to the air almost exclusively, when they got/fell behind….Simmons is a load to bring down, and he has been known to hurdle over his defenders…This should be a hard-fought game, and a real battle on all fronts…These guys may not hate each other as much as the old NWG-NG teams did, but they love to meet up, and see if they can take out their opponent(NG/NWG)…

Being at home should be a big plus for Northern, playing there in the Johnny Roscoe Stadium, and it will be packed out for this game….So be sure to be listening in on GreensboroSports Radio…We love battles like this one, and it’s even bigger this year, with both teams fighting for Metro 4-A supremacy(Almost like a playoff game)….The Northern Guilford defense and how well they are swarming to the ball, on the wet field, could be a big factor in this game…Ball in Xavier Simmons hands, and short passes to Bristol Carter out of the slot in the backfield, could benefit NWG…Get Carter the ball in short space and then let him run…NG is playing with five defensive backs, so they will be waiting on the mid-range to long passes….Time to quit talking and start chalking…Time to buckle-up, fasten that chin-strap and get/be ready….Game time 6:30pm, at Johnny Roscoe Stadium…GreensboroSports Radio
(Joe Sirera, from the News and Record will be at this game for the N&R, and for HSXtra.com)

Ragsdale(0-3/1-5) at Grimsley(3-0/6-0)…6:30pm
Grimsley QB Alonza Barnett III going 89-149 for 1,497 yards passing, good for 19 TD passes, with zero(0) interceptions…Barnett’s top target so far has been Terrell Anderson who has 30 receptions for 528 yards and 7 TD receptions…Not too far behind Anderson is Tyson Resper with 22 receptions, for 313 yards and 7 TD’s…Alex Taylor, Jeiel Melton and Nolan Albright give Grimsley more support from the receiver position…Melton has run the ball 106 times for 676 yards and 7 TD’s…Melton with 228 yards receiving, plus Barnett has 280 yards rushing and 4 TD’s on the ground, vs. his 19 TD’s through the air…Again, like we said last week, Barnett very comparable to Chris Zellous, the outstanding Grimsley QB, from two years ago….We can still remember the Grimsley-Ragsdale game at Grimsley two years ago, when Grimsley had Zellous at QB, and Ragsdale was going with Alston Hooker, at QB…The game was a real nail-biter at the end…We got in a great conversation with Grimsley head coach Darryl Brown, and will have that talk on our NWG at Northern Guilford game, with parts of the talk in the pregame, and then the full interview coming up at halftime, on GreensboroSports Radio
Not expecting this year’s Grimsley-Ragsdale game to be all that close…Grimsley-Page, and Grimsley-Northern Guilford, still looming for the Whirlies…

Page(3-0/3-3) at Western Guilford(0-3/1-4)…7pm
The Page game will be give that ball to Trevon Hester and watch the kid run…Nearly 600 yards rushing this season, and right at 100 yards per game…593 total yards on 93 carries with 11 TD’s…Right at a third of Hester’s yards for this season came in last week’s win over Northwest…240 yards on 27 carries, and it will be time to get Hester running early and often in the WG game…You may not have to run him 27 times in this game, as Page ought to be able to put this game away in the first half, if Page plays disciplined football…Page can turn to Nick Williamson and Jerron Blackwell, and let them carry some of the offensive load vs. WG…Get Grady Sherrill, Adonis Payton and Jaleel Stader involved too, and PJ/Paul Thompson might be ready to get back into the offensive flow…The Page “D” better be shooting for a shutout here…Western will need another big game from Bryson Moore…And WG may need to be thinking about bringing up the Cam Hammie(#70) kid from the JV team…The kid is very active and he can get to the ball…Page has to be getting things right all the way around, as they get ready for Northern Guilford coming to Page’ place next Friday night…

Southeast Guilford(1-2/3-3) at Southwest Guilford(1-2/3-3)…Kickoff now set for 6:30pm at “The Ranch”…..
Big games from SEG’s Bryson Serrano at QB and Elijah Davis at RB, last Friday night vs. Ragsdale….SWG will be a much tougher opponent, but SEG might be catching their ‘second wind’, and the Falcons might be ready to finish the season, with a flurry….If they get Tyshawn Wall back, the Falcons will be even harder to stop/beat…SWG will have to continue to rely on QB Joey McGinnis, WR Darius Hairston and RB Cam McCain…This might be one of those very even matchups going in, but whoever makes the least mistakes and stays off of the Penalty Train, they will win this game…Can McGinnis get it rolling at home??? Can SEG come into The Ranch, and corral the Cowboys??? Guys like Cam Williams and Nick Caldwell, from SEG, may be the difference-makers in this game….Williams and Caldwell can get SEG big chunks….The big play/big chunk playmakers, they could spell the difference in the outcome of this game…Watch out for these two young men, on Friday night, at The Ranch….

WS Atkins(1-2/1-4) at Eastern Guilford(3-0/4-1)…7pm
Eastern Guilford by a big chunk in this game…EG can roll, and that should happen if the QB Boyd and their RB Jayden Evans get rolling….EG can take this game over and settle it in the first half, if the EG Wildcats play their game….Evans with 571 rushing yards and 6 TD’s…Khyair Lundy with 405 receiving yards and 6 TD receptions…EG QB Tyreik Boyd with 663 passing yards, good for 9 TD passes and just 2 interceptions…

Rockingham County(2-1/3-2) at High Point Central(0-2/1-4)
Things have not gone all that great this season for HP Central…For that reason, we are favoring the ROCK in this game…Central defeated High Point Andrews and the HPC Bison have not won another game all season…The Bison have not been in many of their games, and let’s hope they can clean things up tonight, and get on track, vs. The ROCK…

High Point Andrews(1-2/1-4) at West Stokes(1-2/3-2)
I’m not sure which Andrews team will show up…Andrews has not been able to put together a string of good games this season…I do think they have some talent…HP Andrews had some big plays vs. Reidsville, but Andrews has to begin to get those big plays the entire game…

Cabarrus [Cannon/Concord Academy](4-1) at High Point Christian Academy(3-2) 7pm
Not sure about the talent levels for either one of these teams, but we do know that HPCA kept it to a one-touchdown game, when the Cougars fell at Ravenscroft last week…Wish we knew more about Concord Cannon, but we do not..

This game has been moved to Monday night at 7pm:
Southern Guilford(2-1/3-3) at Smith(0-3/1-5)
Give a whole heaping helping of Jamias Ferere, Rydell Herbin and Decoury Covington, and we feel that Southern Guilford will win this game…Smith will put up a fight, but we expect SG to win on Monday night…Ferere and Herbin leading the offense, Herbin and Covington leading the defense…These kids are proven leaders, and we know that they can get the job done……
