HPU WSOC Drops 1-0 Contest to Radford on Wednesday Night

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Radford on Wednesday night (Oct 13). The Panthers outshot the Highlanders 10-8 but Radford put more on target with four of their shots occurring on goal while HPU recorded one shot on goal. Radford’s lone goal came in the first two minutes of the second half.

Panther Particulars

The Panthers saw a chance to score in the early going as Skyler Prillaman tested the Highlander keeper early forcing a diving save on her shot attempt.

Prillaman shot again this time a back-heel attempt on a well-timed cross from Chloe Le Franc, Prillaman’s chance was just wide.

Late in the first half, in the 40th minute London Lewis stepped up and blocked a shot to limit the Highlander break away. Lewis’s block kept the game locked at 0-0.

In the last two minutes of the first half, HPU had a breakaway chance as Lauren Mazich was met by the Radford keeper in the last two minutes of the first half to stop the Panther opportunity.

It was 0-0 at the half.

Two minutes into the second half, Radford made the first move scoring in the 48th minute to go to up 1-0.

Radford looked to add to its lead in the 56th minute, Morgan Hairston made a diving save to keep the Radford lead at one.

In the 87th minute, Alex Deperno sent a ball into the box that found the head of Prillaman who headed it just wide.

Radford held on to win 1-0, HPU’s winning streak ended at four games on Wednesday night in Vert.
