It appears the New York Giants will lose out on some valuable time to further evaluate third-year quarterback Daniel Jones during the second half of what’s become another lost season despite this past Sunday’s 13-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles that improved Big Blue to 4-7.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero (h/t Jelani Scott), Jones suffered a strained neck early in the Philadelphia game that didn’t cost him any playing time on Sunday afternoon but that now has him considered “week-to-week.” Additionally, backup Mike Glennon is expected to start in Jones’ place for at least this coming Sunday’s contest at the 5-7 Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins have won four straight.

Also on Tuesday, the Giants signed signal-caller Jake Fromm off the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills, which suggests Jones could remain sidelined beyond the upcoming weekend. New York also has Brian Lewerke on the practice squad.

Jones has endured yet another up-and-down season that has left analysts and fans wondering if he can be the franchise’s long-term answer at the sport’s most important position. Per ESPN stats, he is 26th among eligible quarterbacks with an 84.8 passer rating, 25th with a 40.9 total QBR, 20th with 2,428 passing yards, and tied for 25th with only 10 passing touchdowns on the campaign.
