We have lost another Good One from the GreensboroSports team and from the GBPS:RIP Ted Hoffler

Saw it on Facebook last night that Ted Hoffler was gone….Ted has left us, and he leaves a big void in the Greensboro Community….Ted was a huge North Carolina Tar Heels fan and he was also very big on the local Greensboro blues music scene…He was a very big part of the Greensboro Blues Preservation Society, and guitar music was in his blood…

Ted had an old red pickup truck that he used to bring into Steve Gladson’s Battleground Automotive to be worked on…I think Ted would drive the old red pickup out west to Arizona, Montana, Colorado, Washington state, Nevada, New Mexico, California, and other western outposts, and he would haul his motorcycle along with him in the red pickup, and he would spend days riding that motorcycle like Evil Knievel across the mountains, through the canyons, and over the gorges…

Ted Hoffler lived life to its fullest, and that is why with him now passed and gone on to a bigger and better place, there seems like there will be a void around these parts…They say, or someone once said, “It’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it’s what you leave behind you when you go”….

And Ted left a lot…He always had a BIG smile on his face, and more times than not you would usually find him laughing, and he always had a good story or two to tell…Ted has died, but in so many ways, his legacy lives on, here in the Gate City…You won’t hear many people having a bad thing to say about Ted Hoffler, unless they tell you, “That guy was too wide-open”, because Ted was wide-open, and didn’t do too many things half way, and I think that is why people will have trouble forgetting Ted Hoffler….

Ted was all-in/all-out in everything he did…This man is gone, but his name and his heart/soul will live on…He was so very much respected on that Greensboro Blues Preservation Society stage…Those with the GBPS will keep Ted’s name out there on the marquee….They said Fred is dead, but I don’t think you can say, Ted is Dead…He will live on, and on…

They are planning to do a tribute show for Ted Hoffler on WQFS 90.9 FM radio on Tuesday afternoon/tomorrow afternoon….The show is set to run from 4-6pm, and will be hosted by Charlie Heavner…

To some Ted Hoffler might have been just another guy from Greensboro, but for some many of those people that knew him, Ted Hoffler was a one-of-a-kind brand name, and that name will not be forgotten…

RIP:Ted Hoffler….COD/Cause of Death unknown at this time, but in time, we will be able to share that info with you…When you think of Ted, think of him in that old red pickup truck, or remember him playing his guitar, and also remember that Ted put many a mile on his Chevy Impala, traveling up and down the road, doing his food industry sales…

A man for all seasons, and a reason we will be missing him this Holiday Season, Ted Hoffler, one-of-a-kind…..
**********(Saw a Facebook photo of Ted in his Franklin Drug Store little league baseball uniform…They said of Ted and his team, “They Played Hard”, and Ted said back a few weeks ago, “We still do”.)

Yes Ted, you still do sir. The memories will LIVE on……
