Elizabeth Kitley named ACC Player of the Week for the third time this season
Junior center drops 34 points Sunday in initial ACC contest of the season
Junior center Elizabeth Kitley(Northwest Guilford High School) earned ACC Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Kitley scored 34 points Sunday at Florida State as the Hokies defeated the Seminoles 92-75 to get out to a 1-0 start in ACC play for the second consecutive season.
The Summerfield, North Carolina native was an efficient 13-of-19 from the field and also connected on a career-best eight FTs in the contest. She grabbed 13 rebounds to secure a double-double and blocked four shots. In 12 games this season, Kitley owns multiple blocks in 11 of those games and has rejected four or more shots in five games.
Kitley’s five double-doubles ties her for the league lead in that category, while she is one of two athletes to post multiple 30-point games. Her six 20-point games are a league-high.
She ranks second in the ACC in points per game, third in rebounds, first in FG%, and first in blocks.
Kitley has now been named ACC Player of the Week three times, the most of any other basketball athlete.
