Reagan broke open a tight road contest at West Forsyth with furious start to the fourth quarter to defeat the Titans 56-46 in Clemmons Tuesday night. The Raiders scored 16 of the first 20 points in the first five minutes of the final period to open up a 14-point lead (52-38) & secure their eighth win in 12 games this season.
West started quickly, scoring nine of the game’s first 11 points but Reagan rallied to take it’s first lead (13-12) with 5:30 left in the first half. The game was tied at half and four more times during a tight third period that left the Raiders, now 2-2 in Central Piedmont Conference 4A play, with a 36-34 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
But Reagan’s pressure, which forced 21 Titans’ turnovers, began to wear on the home team. Freshman KJ Ford scored in a flurry at the start of the period, opening the visitor’s lead to eight (42-34) only 20 seconds after the break, then led the biggest surge mid-period when Reagan took command.
Ford hit a twisting drive for a lay-up & then Jalil Rogers, the game’s leading scorer with 21 points, dished to Jack Leonard for a FG off a steal in the press. Ford followed with a free throw & Leonard powered for an and-one three-point play to push the Raiders’ lead to 52-38 with 2:30 to play.
Ford complimented Rogers’ 21 with 18 points, five assists & four steals. Sophomore center Cooper Jackson led all rebounders with five and added three blocked shots. AJ Baskerville led West with 16 points & Bralen Morris added 14.
Reagan returns to the court tomorrow night for a non-conference game art home against North Davidson, then travels to Parkland for a CPC contest on Friday against the Mustangs on Tom Muse Court.
