Panthers Break Three School Records in the 60m, 400m, and Weight Throw

BLACKSBURG, Va. — High Point University Track & Field finished two days of competition in Blacksburg, VT at the Virginia Tech Challenge, as well as one day of competition in Winston-Salem, NC at the JDL DMR Invite. The Virginia Tech Challenge for the Panther men was highlighted by Deron Dudley who finished in second place in the 60m dash with a time of 6.72 seconds, which is another Panther school record. Fellow Panther Paul Gore finished in 5th place with a time of 6.84. Gore and Dudley also finished in third and fourth respectively in the 200m dash.

Terris Burton broke his indoor school record in the 400m dash with a time of 48.54. At the JDL DMR Invite, Chris Van Niekerk broke his school record in the weight throw with a mark of 16.77m.

Panther Particulars

Kolt Byers had a season best of 4.50m in the men’s unseeded pole vault.

Freddie Allen III finished in second place in the long jump with a mark of 7.12m. Fellow Panthers Larry Coaxum and Dekairi Brown jumped 6.78m and 6.73m respectively. Coaxum also finished in fourth place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.92m.

At the JDL DMR Invite, Alex Hoffman finished in fifth place in the shotput with a throw of 14.93m. Hoffman also finished in ninth place in the weight throw with a mark of 14.58m.

The Panthers will look to defend their 2020 Big South Indoor Conference Championship as they head to Winston-Salem, NC for the 2022 Big South Indoor Conference Championships. The Big South did not host an indoor conference championship in 2021. The event will be hosted at the renowned JDL Fast Track and competition will take place on February 24th and 25th.


Panther Pole Vaulters Feature in Blacksburg; Massive PR for Vesper

BLACKSBURG, Va. — High Point University Track & Field finished two days of competition in Blacksburg, VT at the Virginia Tech Challenge, as well as one day of competition in Winston-Salem, NC at the JDL DMR Invitational. The Virginia Tech Challenge for the Panther women was highlighted by Rachel Vesper, who set a huge personal best of 4.0m and won the unseeded women’s pole vault. Fellow Panther vaulters Sydney Horn and Mackenzie Horn finished in third and sixth in the women’s pole vault with marks of 4.36m and 4.07m respectively.

Panther Particulars

Nyile Facey finished in sixth place in the finals of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.61. Facey also ran a personal best time of 58.75 in the 400m dash.

Tessa Webb finished in sixth place in the mile with a season’s best time of 5:16.28. Tatum Castillo also ran a personal best time of 5:17.37 to finish in seventh place.

Alicia Dawson finished in fifth place in the women’s long jump with a mark of 6.04m.

At the JDL DMR Invite, Lexi Crompton finished in fifth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m. Jordan Pringle set a personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 10.95m to finish in second place. Leah Bolden finished in third place in the 200m dash with a time of 25.53.

Also at JDL, Letizia Marsico finished in third place in the shotput with an attempt of 13.37m. Liana Betts and Lilly Wolf finished in fifth and sixth place with marks of 11.78m and 11.59m respectively.
