High School Basketball Tonight(2/24/2022) with Round Two of the NCHSAA Playoffs/Sectionals

Going by the spot up start times we found at HSOT.com….Most teams with Doubleheader action, will go with starts times for girls at 6pm, and then the boys will be ready to at around 7:30pm…..

When you look at the schedule below, every home team will be the favored team tonight…That is just how it works when you get this deep in the playoffs…

With boys and girls together, we have nine remaining teams, and of those nine, we have five teams that will be favored in these Round Two games…We will look for our nine Guilford County teams to go (5-4) overall tonight, and the lone team that might be upset minded will be the High Point Andrews girls…In a matchup featuring #9 Andrews, at #8 Lincoln Charter, HP Andrews has a very good chance to pull out the win…

The next big question faces the Northwest Guilford boys….They went on the road and knocked off the #2 seed Tuesday night in Asheville, and the NWG Vikings did that as the #31 overall seed…

Tonight, the Vikings face Mount Tabor, at that old and storied Mount Tabor gymnasium, but Northwest is not only facing the Mount Tabor Spartans, they also facing off with the MT Spartans coach, Andy Muse…Muse is a master at playoff wins, and he really works his mastery at home, inside of the Mount Tabor gym….NWG has a loaded task, but the Vikings might be ready to be a Round Two spoiler….If the three’s are going for NWG, with C. Ballou, Hartzell, Watkins, Eller, Cross and company, look out…

Grimsley boys will be tested much more in Round Two than Round One, but they should be fine(Big three seniors must lead the load, with Albright, Watlington, and Wall)…Northern Guilford boys ought to be ready to make that home court in Nighthawk-land work to their advantage(Big three seniors:Hodge, Helms, Elliott must make an instant impact in this game)…

The Smith boys are a force and you can see it in their pregame warmups…The Golden Eagles can shoot the eyes out of the basketball, and as we all know from years of experience, the ball don’t lie…Collins, Hale, Gilbert, Goods and Partee, are a strong five, and Gage Lattimore is excellent coming in off of that Smith bench…Could be a real long night for the Southern Guilford Storm down at Boiling Springs Crest…Crest beat their opening Round One opponent, 83-44, and that might be hard for the Storm to deal with…Ferere, German, and others will have to do some big time stepping up….

Northern Guilford girls should still be rolling in Round Two, but Round Three is where it is going to get interesting for the Lady Nighthawks…They need to keep grabbing those early leads, so players can rest when the games are no longer in doubt…Rest, with the substitutional pattern in full flight…Southwest Guilford girls travel to face Charlotte Catholic, and Catholic topped Page in Round One, 62-21…Catholic appears to have too many shooters, and that will be hard for the SWG Cowgirls to overcome…

The Smith girls did not play their best in their Round One win over North Iredell….Scott carried the Golden Eagles early, and then in the second half, things kicked in for Drayton-Gill…Smith needs bigger games from Zoe Davis and Morgan Smith, in order to punch their ticket for Round Three…I can see Smith pounding the ball down low to Davis, and that should set up the perimeter for Scott and Drayton-Gill, and Drayton-Gill is a very good driver to the basket….Get the inside-outside game going, and that could pay dividends…

The High Point Andrews girls are the X-Factor team in Round Two for our teams from Guilford County…I really do believe that the Red Raiders can go on the road, and bring back a win…HPA’s opponent, Lincoln Charter, won by 12 points in Round One, and HP Andrews won by 21…That means HP Andrews has a good chance to win by nine points at Lincoln Charter….

Several theories and plenty of time to see how all this comes about, once Round Two is complete…Time to take it to the hoop, and see how many teams we can get to advance into Round Three of the 2022 high school basketball playoffs….
