ELON, N.C — The High Point University women’s lacrosse team earned its first win of the season on the road against Elon 19-10 on Wednesday (March 16) night. Hormes led the way with six goals on the night with five of them coming the first half alone. Hormes finished with an impressive stat line of six goals, two assists, and nine draw controls. Mandy Brockamp scored the first hat trick of her career. Mena Loescher and Emma Genovese also recorded hat tricks on the day as seven different Panthers scored.

Lyndsey Boswell: It takes full buy-in from the entire team to have a big win like this. It would have been easy for our team to quit after the start we have had. Coming off five losses one might think we were anxious to get that first win but we have seen positive things from this team over the past few weeks and we are happy to see it come together for 60 minutes today.

Boswell on the balanced scoring: Seven people scoring is awesome, Abby led the way with her shooting percentage going 6 for 7. She just contributed all over the place giving our offense an early spark. They put in a ton of extra work since we last played and I’m so proud to see that work pay off for them tonight.
