Chasing the Cheapest Gas Prices in Town:In the “Current Gas Wars”, you will find the ‘Least on the East’!!!!!

Chasing those cheap gas prices these days, and none of the gas prices I have seen, are really all that cheap….But, if you look around, you can find some price breaks, and in buying/purchasing gas, sometimes it is like it is in sports, you have to get in there and rub elbows with the competition…..

With the war in the Ukraine intensifying, the so-called “Gas Wars” are far from over too…

Today, I was on the East side of Greensboro, and lately, that is where I have been finding the best prices on at least a-half-a-tank-of-gas…

I used to be able to buy a dollars worth, if I had one trip to make that day…If two trips in town were coming up, I could get by on two dollars worth of gas…Now with the prices skyrocketing, for one trip you better get $10.00 of gas, two trips, $15.00 worth of gas, and if you plan on making several trips around town over the course of several days, you better go ahead and get yourself a $20.00 gas gulp…At the 7-11 Convenience Store, they used to call this the “Big Gulp”, and now they call it the “Big Gulf”…

Down in the East, that is where the gas prices will be the least….At least, that is how I have seen it as of late…That Mobile convenience store at the bottom of the hill, on East Wendover Avenue, and near Latham Park, has been at $3.63 a gallon for the past week….I had plans of stopping in there today/Monday, but I found a little bit of a better deal, further on down, on East Market Street….

Got to get into East Greensboro, to get a good deal on anything….That is where the dealing is done….

Last Friday, I was on the way to Burlington, so I went by the bank, and picked up a few bucks, and headed to the Speedway Gas Store, on Battleground Avenue…The empty gas light was on in my car, so I didn’t have enough gas to get me to the Mobile station, down on East Wendover…Went with the $3.67 a gallon gas from the Speedway, there on Battleground, and got from Point A, to Point B, and Point B is where I ended up at today…

Back to The Battleground/key gas battleground turf on Battleground Avenue, the Speedway was at $3.67 a gallon back on Friday, and today they were down to $3.63 a gallon…The Quality Mart/Shell station on Battleground has had their gas needle stuck on $3.77 per gallon for the past week….Speedway had them at $3.67 a gallon, and now the Speedway is really winning that “Gas War” on Battleground Avenue, with Speedway at $3.63 a gallon, and the Shell still stuck at $3.77 a gallon…

But, we need to get back where they are having the ‘Gas Feast’, and that is down East, where gas has been the least….

Was on East Market Street today, and was in the gas buying mode, out of necessity, and my gas empty light being ON made the need for gas an utmost requirement, to get from the East side of town, back to the West side of the city…

Heading down East Market Street, after leaving the Murrow Blvd. post office, I spotted gas for $3.70 a gallon at the Citgo, on the corner of East Market Street, and English Street…But, just across the street, and still on East Market Street, the Shell station had the gas going for an incredible $3.62 a gallon….That ended up being the best price I would see all day long…

So we had found the Least on the East, and it was at $3.62 a gallon at the Shell station, there on East Market Street…But, you see it, and do you really believe this would be your “Gas Gold Mine”?????

Not necessarily….For my own personal instinctive nature, I needed to check out a few more spots, there in East Greensboro…I drove, with the gas I had remaining in my near empty gas-hungry car, on over, and down English Street, headed toward East Wendover Avenue…Still with our East Greensboro theme covering us like a nice baby-blanket, we noticed gas at $3.79 per gallon at the Sunoco, there on the corner of English Street and East Bessemer Avenue…A whopping $3.79 per gallon, and we had it locked down at $3.62 per gallon, back at the Shell station, there on East Market Street….

Cruising on past the Sunoco, and driving by the Citgo, there on the corner of English Street and East Wendover Avenue, the Citgo petrol was priced at $3.69 a gallon, and I have been to the Citgo and bought plenty of $3.69 per gallon gas from them in recent weeks…But, not today….Not with that best buy price of $3.62 a gallon still looming in my rearview mirror, back over at the Shell, on East Market Street…

So I made the left-hand turn into the edge of the Citgo lot, there on the corner of English Street and East Wendover, and took my Toyota back over to the Shell on East Market Street to get a $20.00 shot of Unleaded Regular, or Regular Unleaded…On the East side of town, we call it, Unleaded Regular….

Was able to get right into the middle of the “Gas Wars” today, and came out a satisfied trooper…But, one of the things that really got me, was when I went from East Market Street, back over on English Street to East Wendover, and then as I go on East Wendover, I saw where the East Wendover Avenue Speedway store, had their gas priced at $3.62 a gallon too….Speedway(East Wendover Ave.) has been up around $3.69 per gallon in recent weeks…

It was good though, to be able to get in a little gas price shopping on this week after Easter Monday, and find out where you can get the gas for the least, and by all accounts, the ‘Least is on the East’, side of town….

From $3.79, to $3.70, on to $3.69, then $3.63, and finally at $3.62 for a gallon of gas, we did not see it all, but we saw quite a bit of the gas selling business in play today…..

Another sort of interesting note that always hits me, and gets me, as I drive down English Street, and pass the English Street Shopping Center, I am taken back to the day, many years and moons ago, when I was working for Big Don Rumsey, Ray Rumsey, and Ron Rumsey, at the Steamatic Carpet Cleaners on that side of town, and memory takes me back to the English Street Shopping Center, where they had an establishment called “The English Pub”….And for the life of me, I always thought that would be an interesting and educational place to visit…A real ‘English Pub’, in East Greensboro…Wow, just like over in London England…An English Pub….

Little did I know at that time(while I was still in my youth), and fortunately for my historical welfare, I was finally able to get my bearings straight years later on, as I found out and learned that the ‘English Pub” was named as it was, since it was on English Street, and not because it was part of some jolly old chaps, and their home-country English culture…I bet if you went inside that ‘English Pub’, you would find more of the local good ‘ole boys and their after-work black-and-blue collar crowd, than you would any of the Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes crowd….

This highly informative entry is FREE for your reading, but if I was charging you to read this current breaking gasoline price news, and great English history like I have posted/printed here for you today, I would be charging at least a $1.65 a gallon for this Premium Information…..

I am listing this work in the Professional category, here at GreensboroSports.com(Professional Research deserves a Professional Touche`), and I am also listing it in the College category, since I drove right by N.C. A&T State University, as I was collecting my data for this landmark feature…I will also give this an Amatuer posting, since I saw a runner heading down East Market Street, and he wasn’t being chased, he was running for the health of it….As we close, we should probably give this an Uncategorized listing too, since this may be the story that goes outside of the lines/gas lines….
