High Point Univiversity: 2022 Big South Outdoor Championship Track Recap – Day 1

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University men’s track & Field finished day one of the 2022 Big South Outdoor Championships with two individual championships and a first-place team score of 70. (Womens’ results follows.)

Panther Performances
– Freshman Alex Hoffman threw a personal best of 52.09 m in the men’s hammer to finish fifth. Hoffman earned five points for the Panthers.
– Larry Coaxum set a personal best in the first flight of the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.13m, advancing him to the finals. Freddie Allen III jumped 7.36 m, earning a fourth-place finish.
– Terris Burton II will be moving on to the finals in the men’s 400m hurdles after running a time of 54.66.
– Deron Dudley finished first in his heat of the 200m with a time of 21.20, qualifying him for the finals.
– Adam Craig took home the men’s pole vault crown with a mark of 4.81 m, a season-best for Craig. Kolt Byers placed second with a personal best of 4.61m, while Cole Holliday placed fourth with a personal best of 4.41m.
– Hocine Bouchrak finished third in the men’s 1500 m with a time of 3:51.61, qualifying him for the finals. Graham Ferguson also qualified for the finals with a time of 3:58.59.
– Ryan Tenor and Rob Greer took home the top two spots in the men’s javelin. Tenor threw a personal best of 60.76 m, while Greer threw a season-best of 59.99m.
– After five events in the Decathlon Evan Mills leads the way with 3486 points, putting him in first place. Felix LaBlanc is in third with 3123 points and Brandon Lewis is in fourth with 2982 points. Stephen Binkley is in fifth with 2931 points.

– Nyile Facey ran a season-best 1:00.78 in the women’s 400 m hurdles, while Ebba Ahman ran a personal best 1:01.53, both advancing to the finals.
– Alicia Dawson finished third in the women’s long jump with a mark of 5.95 m.
– Hannah Brookover won her heat of the women’s 1500 m with a time of 4:35.97, while teammate Olive Allen was right behind her with a time of 4:36.90. Sydney Bagus also qualified for the finals with a time of 4:39.89 along with Franzi Jakobs who advanced with a time of 4:40.93.
– Ashley Jones finished second in the 10K with a time of 35:50.16 while Lindsey Ickes finished with a time of 36:00.06 for a third place finish the big point swing helped HPU propell itself into the lead to end the night.Where Does High Point Stand
