Omega Sports Report:Greensboro Grasshoppers can’t decide on starting pitcher, but Offense puts up five runs in the 4th inning, with all nine batters coming to the plate, and Hoppers win 8-4, over Greenville Drive

Final from Wednesday night, at First National Bank Field, in downtown Greensboro:
Greensboro Grasshoppers 8, Greenville Drive 4
WP:Sean Sullivan(2-4)
LP:Wyatt Olds(1-6)
Hoppers(33-43/6-5)/Drive(29-48)

Hoppers' line:8-11-0
Drive' line: 4- 6-1

Nothing real fancy about this win, but one of the crazy things is that the Greensboro Grasshoppers were never really sure who they wanted their starting pitcher to be on this night…The early call went out to Sean Sullivan, then they flipped it to Garrett Leonard, and then it was back to Sullivan slated to start again, but at the last minute, the Hoppers gave Garrett Leonard the starting nod, and Leonard had pitched in 36 previous games for the Hoppers over the last two seasons/years, but he did not have one start under his belt until Wednesday night….

It ended up working out pretty good for Sean Sullivan, as Leonard only went two innings, and then Greensboro brought in Sullivan, and he worked five steady frames, to earn his second victory of the season, vs. four losses…With Leonard giving the home team two innings, and then Sullivan going five, the Hops’ leaned on Michell Miliano, and Wandi Montout to carry them in the eighth and ninth innings, and that is exactly what they did…

Sullivan gave up three runs on three runs, on four hits, with three walks, and three strikeouts, and the Greenville Drive smacked one home run off of Sullivan…Leonard in the starter’s role, allowed one run, two hits with a walk, and three strikeouts, and like his his pen partner/pal Sullivan, Leonard gave up a solo Drive HR…The two Greenville home runs, and both were solo HR’s, and they say the solo homers won’t help you, but then again, they should not hurt you…

It was like a hen house, or maybe a goose house, with Miliano and Montout mounting the mound, to finish the game for the Hoppers….It was nothing but goose eggs from both of those Hopper hurlers…It was like 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 BB’s, and the one strikeout from Miliano, as the back end of the Hoppers’ bullpen, was more like a local farmer’s hen house on this night…Nothing but those eggs all over the board….Goose eggs, hen’s eggs, ostrich eggs, take your pick, M&M, Miliano and Montout, got ’em out during the later stages of this contest…

On the offensive side of the game, we will give our Steak n Shake Player of the Game to Sammy Siani…Siani goes 2-4/HR/2 Runs/2 RBI…Siani’s home run was a two-run poke, and it was his seventh HR of the season…Our Steak n Shake defensive Players of the Game are M&M, and the recognition goes their way for their work from the pen, on Wednesday night…M&M, Miliano and Montout…Fine job of relief pitching from those two bullpen teammates…

So, there you go, Sammy Siani, and M&M/Miliano and Montout on the highlight reel tonight, before we go to bed…

More on the Hoppers’ offense from Wednesday night….Yoyner Fajardo 2-4/BB/Run/RBI…Endy Rodriguez 2-5/Double/Run/2 RBI…Rodriguez has been on a tear as of late, and he now has 39 RBI for the year…Jacob Gonzalez 1-5/RBI…Dariel Lopez 1-4/Run…Francisco Acuna 1-3/Run…Hudson Head 1-2/BB/Run…Luke Brown 1-4/Run/2 RBI…(First RBI of the season, for Luke Brown, the Louisville product.)…
*****That should account for your Hoppers’ eight runs, on 11 hits…*****

++++++++++Even with all of the indecision about who the Hoppers’ starting pitcher was going to be, either Sullivan or Leonard, this was a very good, and productive outing for the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Wednesday evening…Grasshoppers now with back-to-back wins over the Greenville Drive, with Game Three of the Six-Game Series, coming up at 6:30pm, on Thursday night, at First National Bank Field…++++++++++

A follow-up Next Up:Greensboro Grasshoppers vs. Greenville Drive on Thursday night, first pitch at 6:30pm, at First National Bank Field, in beautiful downtown Greensboro……
