Fan Favorites Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker Join Wyndham Championship Field

FAN FAVORITES, PAST CHAMPIONS WEBB SIMPSON, BRANDT SNEDEKER JOIN WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two fan favorites and past champions, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker, are coming back to Sedgefield for the Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 83rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 3-7, 2022 at Sedgefield Country Club.

These players join World No. 15 Billy Horschel, former World No. 1 and major championship winners Adam Scott and Jason Day, three-time champion Davis Love III, defending champion Kevin Kisner, European Tour stars Tommy Fleetwood and Rafa Cabrera Bello as well as 2019 champion J.T. Poston in the Wyndham Championship field.

Simpson is currently 72nd in the Official World Golf Rankings and 115th in FedExCup points. His best finishes this season are tied for eighth at the RSM Classic, tied for 13th at the Travelers Championship and tied for 14th at the CJ Cup @ Summit. He captured his first PGA TOUR victory at the Wyndham in 2011 and went on to win the 2012 U.S. Open 10 months later.

Simpson, who finished tied for seventh here last year, recorded a top-seven finish in each of his last five appearances at Sedgefield. The Wake Forest University alumnus native leads the Wyndham Championship career money list with $3,728,335 in 13 appearances. He represented the United States in the Ryder Cup in 2012, ‘14 and ‘18, the Presidents Cup in 2011, ‘13 and ‘19 and the Walker Cup in 2007.

Snedeker won the Wyndham Championship in 2007, his first-career win, and again in 2018 shooting a course-record 59 in the first round becoming just the 10th golfer in PGA TOUR history to shoot a sub-60 round in official tournament play. With the win, he became the 10th multiple winner in tournament history. The nine-time PGA TOUR winner hasn’t won this season but finished tied for 14th at The American Express and tied for 18th at the Valero Texas Open.

Snedeker, the 2012 FedExCup champion, is second on the Wyndham Championship career money list with $2,922,725 in 14 appearances here. He is 175th in the FedExCup point standings but is one of just six players to qualify for the FedExCup playoffs in each of the first 15 years of the FedExCup era. He represented the United States in the Ryder Cup in 2012 and ’16 as well as the 2013 Presidents Cup
