Final from Thursday night, at First National Bank Field, in beautiful downtown Greensboro:
Winston-Salem Dash 7, Greensboro Grasshoppers 5…11 Innings
WP:Skylar Arias(2-0)
LP:Dante Mendoza(0-1)
Grasshoppers(40-51/13/13)/Dash(45-48)

Dash' line: 7-14-0
Hoppers' line:5- 8-1

The Hoppers’ top hitters for the Thursday night game, and our Steak n Shake Players of the Game were, Jacob Gonzalez and Endy Rodriguez…After going 4-6 on Wednesday, Gonzalez went 2-5/HR/2 Runs/2 RBI, while Rodriguez was 2-5/HR/1 Run/3 RBI…The Hoppers got the solo HR from Gonzalez, with his two RBI, he now has 30 on the season…Rodriguez with 3 RBI, and he now sits at 53 RBI for the year…HR #7 for Gonzalez, and HR #15 for Hot Rod Rodriguez…Gonzalez has his batting average back up to .317, plus Rodriguez is batting .291….

Ben Norman, for Winston-Salem, was 3-5 at the plate, with a HR and 4 RBI…It was a three-run home for Norman…Luis Mieses poked his 32nd Double for of the season for the Dash, while Bryan Ramos found his 14th Double of the season…Dash base-stealing wizard, Duke Ellis, stole his 40th bag of 2022…That is some kind of running total for Ellis…Mieses came away with his 65th RBI, plus Ramos came up with RBI #58….The Dash had 14 total hits on Thursday night, with Norman, Ramos, and Alsander Womack coming up with three hits each…

For the Hoppers we keep on mentioning Gonzalez and Rodriguez, while for the Dash, we keep on coming back with Norman, Ramos, Mieses, and Womack…

The Greensboro Grasshoppers used eight pitchers, and none of them lasted very long…Losing pitcher Dante Mendoza got roughed up the most, as went just two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs, on four hits, with one walk, and two strikeouts…Mendoza also served up one home run, the Three-Run HR, by the Dash’ Ben Norman, that came in the top of the 11th inning, with the score tied at the time of contact, at 3-3…Now it is 6-3 Dash, and the Hoppers hopes look to be Dashed….
(With the score, 7-3 Dash, Endy Rodriguez did come up with his two-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers were not able to get any closer, and they end up falling to the WS Dash, 7-5.)

The ballgame itself was tied up early on at 1-1, then the Grasshoppers picked up a 2-1 lead, and they even took a 3-2 advantage, to the top of the ninth inning, where the Winston-Salem Dash proceeded to tie the game up at 3-3, when Bryan Ramos drives in Duke Ellis, with a sacrifice fly to left field….

The Hoppers had that 3-2 lead, headed the ninth, and they just could not close out the deal….
