Heisman Watch: Three Biggest Risers After Week 8
Hendon Hooker – Tennessee QB, from Dudley High School, in Greensboro, N.C.
Heisman odds to start the week: +600
Heisman odds after Week 8: +200
Who would have thought after too many years of average QB play that the Tennessee Volunteers would be in the position that they’re in? Tennessee sits at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the SEC. If Hooker can continue carrying this team to an undefeated season, why can’t he win the award over CJ Stroud?

His stats are video game-like this season with 2,039 yards, 18 touchdowns, and only one interception. For his sake and the people who have put money on him to win the award, you have to hope that Tennessee can continue winning games and finish the season undefeated.

CJ Stroud – Ohio State QB
Heisman odds to start the week: +130
Heisman odds after Week 8: +100
There should be no denying at this point that CJ Stroud is the best player in college football. Not only is he the best player in the nation, but Ohio State might be the best team. They’ve destroyed every team that they’ve played and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon.

Before Ohio State’s November 26 game against Michigan, the Buckeyes only have one game that should be tough for them. Next week against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Although Penn State will be a tough opponent, the Buckeyes have beaten them with ease throughout the past few years. That shouldn’t change this season.

Bo Nix – Oregon QB
Heisman odds to start the week: +8000
Heisman odds after Week 8: +4500
Well, Bo Nix probably isn’t going to win the Heisman, but he did play well this week against UCLA. Nix threw for 283 yards and five touchdowns en route to a 45-30 win. On the season, he has 1,809 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. It’s undoubtedly been the best he’s looked in his long college career, but it’s unlikely that it will be anywhere near enough to win the award.

Oregon has some tough games remaining on the schedule and if history will repeat itself, that’s not good news for Nix.
