UNCG Men’s Basketball Hosts Marshall in Tuesday Night Showdown

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s basketball team returns to the Greensboro Coliseum after six games away to host Marshall (9-1) on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. tip-off.

This will also be one week since the Spartans last played a game.

· UNCG fell to No. 9 Arkansas, 65-58 last Tuesday in Bud Walton Arena.

· Donovan Atwell (12 points), Dante Treacy (11 pts), and Kobe Langley (10 pts) led the team.

· Kobe Langley’s 10 points were a season high.

· He also contributed eight rebounds and matched his career-best seven assists.

· Mohammed Abdulsalam had 10 rebounds, his third game this season with double-digit boards.

UNCG held the advantage in points off turnovers, 9-6, and points from the bench, 18-11.

· UNCG’s defense has yielded only 67.2 points per game, second best in the Southern Conference (SoCon).

· The Spartans are also third in the conference in field goal percentage (41.5), and turnover margin (1.3).

· Keondre Kennedy leads the league in free throw percentage (87.9), which ranks 56th in the nation.

· Kobe Langley’s 2.86 assist/turnover ratio is 34th in the nation.

· His 21 steals are 50th in the nation, while his 2.10 steals per game is 57th in the nation, but first in the SoCon.

· The Spartans have outrebounded their opponents 362-353.

· They have also recorded more assists than their opponents, 133-114.

· UNCG has had 66 steals to its’ opponents 58.


· The Herd took down Robert Morris, 69-60 on Saturday to extend its win streak to nine.

· This is the longest win streak for the program since 1999-00 season, which went on a 10-game win streak.

· Marshall enters the contest top 10 in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.61), assists per game (19.1), offensive rebounds per game (14.5), and rebounds per game (42.7).

· Freshman Micah Handlogten’s 27 blocks rank 10th in the nation, while his 108 rebounds ranks sixth.

· With 34 made three-pointers, junior Kamdyn Curfman sits 10th in the nation and has made 41.5 percent of his shots behind the arc.

· Taevion Kinsey was named to the 2023 Jerry West Award Watch List.

· Marshall was picked to finish sixth in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll.

· Kinsey was named to the preseason first team, while Andrew Taylor and Curfman were voted to the third team.


· The Spartans will return to campus to Fleming Gym for a 3 p.m. contest against Warren Wilson Sunday, December 18.

· UNCG begins another three-game road trip with a December 22 contest at Eastern Kentucky beginning at 2 p.m.

· After Christmas, the Spartans begin SoCon play with a 2 p.m. contest at Western Carolina December 29.

· UNCG closes the 2022 calendar year with a 2 p.m. game at Wofford on New Year’s Eve.


· The Spartans and the Herd have played one time prior.

· Marshall won on November 11, 2006, 82-80, in overtime in Huntington, West Virginia.
