You can listen back to this game on GreensboroSports Radio…Drayton-Gill was hot early for Smith, then Zoe Davis got going, with her work on the boards and around the basket…In the second half there was a stretch, where Smith’s Morgan Smith took the game over, and in the end, it was Morgan Smith, Drayton-Gill, and Zoe Davis that led the Smith Golden Eagles into the Winners Circle…The Smith defense is the same Smith defense that we saw back at the HAECO Invitational Basketball Tournament, “suffocating”…They don’t let you move, they don’t let you breathe, they are that tough on defense, and they just keep on coming at you, and they won’t let up, even when they got to bench, and bring on the reserves…Smith is going to be a tough out, in this year’s postseason playoffs…As for this Friday night, Dudley got solid outings from Makayla Carney, Kimora Haith, and from Jewell Pass…

Gage Lattimore can out like the proverbial “House on Fire” tonight, and he never really cooled off…When he put up a shot, you felt like is was going in…Lattimore was zoned into a different latitude for this game….You hear the saying, “he was in a zone”, well Lattimore was in a zone in this game…Things started a little bit slow for Smith’s Markquan Gilbert, but he hit two late free throws that helped ice the game for Smith…CJ Neely also nailed two free throws in the closing minute of this contest, that helped to seal the deal for Smith….Most of the game though, when they needed that big bucket, Gage Lattimore was more than engaging…He literally just “came through” for the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles on this night…Lattimore, Gilbert, CJ and Xavier Neely, plus Nick Aikens, all of these young men were on the ball in this key 3-A Conference Contest….Aikens was takin’, and makin’ some important baskets for the Eagles…The freshman CJ Jones was Dudley’s top scorer, with Antwan Sutton coming in right in behind Jones for top honors for the Panthers…Jones was very warm from three-point range, and Sutton had a little five-to-ten foot jumper that wouldn’t miss…Sutton was keeping the Dudley Panthers in the game in the fourth quarter…Tre McNeil never really got rollin’ for Dudley like I thought he would, but he still has it in him…Smith and Dudley are now tied for second in the busy Mid-State 3-A Conference, where the Southern Guilford Storm are still on top, in first place…Southern Guilford at Smith next Tuesday night, at the Bob McAdoo Gym, on the Ben L. Smith High School campus…Game time around 8pm….Smith wore their new Southside Greensboro jerseys for the first time tonight, and it will be interesting to see if the Golden Eagles sport those new jerseys again soon, maybe even next Tuesday, even though it will be a home game…They may have another home variation of those jerseys stored up someplace there in the main building, at Ben L. Smith HS…

JV Boys Game:Smith 70, Dudley 48
Smith came over to Dudley on Friday night, and the Golden Eagles went back home to the Southside with three victories…Not a bad night for Ben L. Smith…
