Greensboro offense comes alive in win over Ferrum, 19-6

Greensboro, NC – Six goals from Grad Student Seth Mandryk (Stonewall Manitoba, CA) and three goals by Senior Austin Abourjilie (Greensboro, NC) helped pace the Greensboro College Men’s Lacrosse team to a 19-6 home win over ODAC member Ferrum College Saturday afternoon at Pride Field. Senior Goalie Edward Rowley (Brockport, NY), once again, controlled the crease, saving 11 shots, to help the Pride even their record up at 2-2.

Greensboro opened up the first quarter getting four straight goals from Senior Dominic Scali (Randolph, NJ), Sophomore Caelen Young (Linthicum, MD), Mandryk and Junior Aaron Larios-Neubert (Beaverton, OR) to take the quick lead. The Panthers stopped the run with a goal of their own, but Junior DJ Johnson (Greensboro, NC) closed out the quarter with a goal to make the score, 5-1. The second quarter saw five more Pride goals and as the teams headed to the locker room, Greensboro held the advantage, 10-2.

The Pride would go on another run in the third quarter putting together six straight goals, with Mandryk accounting for three of them, along with man up goals from Junior William Beyer (Greensboro, NC) and Senior Gage Kelly (Seminole, FL). Ferrum was able to find their offense in the fourth quarter but solid defense by Greensboro held them at bay, allowing the Pride to get the win, 19-6.

Greensboro will have a week off and return to action on Saturday March 4th as they host Hampden-Sydney at Pride Field. Face-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
