Greensboro will travel to Pennsylvania to play NYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament

Greensboro, NC – After winning the USA South Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles, the Greensboro College Women’s Basketball team learned today who and where they would play, as they gathered with College staff and fans for the official NCAA Selection Show. When their name was called, the Pride began to prepare for a trip up north to Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, PA, where they will face the #7 team in the country, New York University on Friday, March 3rd at 4:30pm.

The Pride are coming off a 26-2 season, while finishing undefeated in the USA South with a record of 18-0. In addition, they are currently on a 23-game win streak and are averaging 86 points/game. The USA South Tournament Championship win was the seventh conference championship in program history. Greensboro has gone 4-7 in their previous seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament and make their first appearance since the 2014-2015 season.

The NYU Violets are making their 22nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship this season. The Violets hold a 22-2 overall record and went 12-2 in the brutal UAA this season. They were ranked No. 7 in the country in the most recent Coaches Poll. NYU holds a 34-23 overall record in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Final Four on three occasions, including their National Championship winning season of 1997.
