Watt Homers in 4-1 Win Against Elon

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball sophomore Rowan Watt hit his second home run of the season, in a 4-1 win against Elon on Wednesday night at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.

UNCG has won two-straight games, after a quick game of only two hours and seven minutes against The Phoenix.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans’ starting pitcher Caleb Cozart struck out a career-best seven batters in 4.0 innings. He allowed two hits and no runs.

With Dosi Jonas on second base in the bottom of the second with a lead off double to right center, G.C. Jarman hit a sacrifice fly to left center allowing Jonas to score for a 1-0 advantage.

The Spartans added two more runs in the bottom of the third when Mitchell Smith hit a double down the left field line, scoring Kennedy Jones and Bradley Bott, 3-1.

After five scoreless innings, Elon saw Cassella single to right field to start the top of the sixth. He stole second and tagged up, advancing to third on a fly out to right. Offshack then grounded out to second base giving Cassella enough time to score from third cutting the deficit to two, 3-1.

UNCG added one more run in the bottom of the sixth with Watt’s second-career home run to left field, 4-1.
