UNCG Baseball Hosts No. 19 NC State TODAY at 3pm
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team hosts No.19 NC State for a mid-week match up on Tuesday/TODAY, March 7th at 3 p.m. This will be the Spartans’ second ranked opponent of the season.

UNCG swept Elon in two games and Rutgers in three last week.
The Spartans went into extra innings against the Scarlet Knights on Sunday pulling off their third walk-off win, 10-9.
It was also the first time this season that the Spartans had gone into extra innings.
Mitchell Smith went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored, one walk, two doubles, and a home run.
Zack Budzik (2-for-4) and Dosi Jonas (2-for-5) also had multi-hit games on Sunday.
Scouting the Spartans
UNCG is coming off five-straight wins, which is the longest win streak since the 2022 season, when the Spartans won five-straight games (May 27-May 29) to win the 2022 Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament and earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Spartans were voted to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
UNCG has five players with two home runs this season: Dosi Jonas, Kennedy Jones, Mitchell Smith, Rowan Watt, and Dallas Callahan.
UNCG has 12 double plays this season, which is 11th in the nation.
The Spartans are 19th in the nation averaging 1 double plays per game.
Luke Holland leads the Spartans with a batting average of .500 in seven games played, while Caleb Cozart is batting .385 (5-for-13).
Zack Budzik is batting .375 (12-for-32) in 10 games played and Daniel Cerda is batting .366 (15-for-41) in 11 games played.
Kennedy Jones is batting .306 (15-for-49) with 12 runs scored and six RBI.
In 20.0 innings pitched, Jay Miller leads the Spartan pitching staff with a 2.25 ERA, striking out 11 this season.
Dosi Jonas leads the team with 11 of the 65 RBIs.
Smith is second on the team with 10 RBIs.
UNCG is leading the SoCon in double plays, double plays per game, and shutouts.
Scouting NC State Wolfpack
The Wolfpack is 12-0 this season, with three shutouts.
NC State is one of five undefeated team in NCAA Division I.
NC State ranks first nationally in total doubles (39).
The Wolfpack is nationally ranked second in doubles per game (3.25).
They are also leading the nation in shutouts (3) and win-los percentage (1.000).

Trevor Candelaria has a team-high of six doubles this year.
Cannon Peebles was named Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week.
Peyton Green was named Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week in February.
LuJames Groover III was named to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List.
Groover III was also named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List.
NC State holds a 31-9 record against the Spartans, winning four of the past five meetings in the series.

UNCG heads to Charlotte on Friday to visit Queens with a first pitch slated for 4 p.m., and then the Spartans are back home on Saturday and Sunday against Queens.
