Pride drop first game of Triad Invitational to Adrian College (MI)
High Point, NC – The rain finally subsided after lunchtime and the Triad Invitational was able to start on time as the Greensboro College Baseball team opened the invite with a game against Adrian College (MI) at Truist Point Stadium. The Pride were looking to build off of their extra innings win earlier in the week, while the Bulldogs were looking to even up there record on the year. Unfortunately, Greensboro was unable to garner the offense they needed and would fall to Adrian by a final score of 13-5.
The Bulldogs scored four straight runs between the first amd second innings and their half of the third inning, but Sophomore Samuel Hayen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) reached on a fielders choice, allowing Junior Drake Carrick (Lexington, NC) to score, trimming the lead to 4-1. After Adrian got one back in the fifth inning, Hayen came to the plate again and hit an RBI single scoring Freshman Evan Sykes (Graham, NC) but the Pride were unable to match the Bulldogs scoring and going into the bottom of the ninth inning, they trailed 13-2. However, Greensboro began a small run, as they scored three runs to battle back, but as the final out was recorded they fell, 13-5.
Freshman Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) finished the game 2-4 with 1 run, while Hayen was 1-4 with 1 run and 2 RBI’s. The Pride will return to action Saturday March 11th as they open the second day of the Triad Invitational facing Montclair State. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00am.
