Catamounts Take Game One against Spartans in SoCon Opener

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to Western Carolina in its Southern Conference (SoCon) opener on Friday evening.

The Spartans responded in the bottom of the frame as Jones connected with a hard grounder in the five-six hole to bring home Jarman to tie the game at one.

Western Carolina took back the lead in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly and UNCG’s bats did work in the bottom of the inning. Rowan Watt and Jarman were able to score after Bradley Bott hit a single to center field to bring the advantage two, 4-2.

The Catamounts tied the game at four in the top of the fourth with two runs on four hits and never looked back, scoring six more runs through the remaining innings.
