Greensboro, NC – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced that Greensboro College’s Evan Sykes has been named the Baseball Rookie of the Week. This is the second time this season Sykes has been recognized.
The freshman infielder from Graham, North Carolina went a combined 8-for-16 (.500) with a .579 on-base percentage, and an .813 slugging percentage to go along with five runs scored, three RBI, three doubles, one triple, and one walk as the Pride posted a 2-2 record last week against USA South opposition. In a 12-3 win over nationally-ranked Methodist, Sykes was 2-for-5 with one run scored, one run batted in, one double, and one walk. In going 1-2 against William Peace, Sykes was a combined 6-for-11 with four runs scored, two RBI, two doubles, and one triple.
