Ninth inning rally comes up short for Pride at Methodist

Fayetteville, NC – Due to inclement weather a little over a week ago, the Greensboro College Baseball team was back in Fayetteville for another USA South match-up with Methodist University. The Pride staged a comeback in the ninth inning, but would ultimately fall to the Monarchs by a final score of 8-7.

Junior Cameron Edmonds (Whitsett, NC) got things started for Greensboro when he drove in Freshman Brody Gardner (Asheboro, MC) in the top of the first inning. That lead would stand until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Methodist scored six straight runs to take the lead, 6-1. However, in the eighth inning, Freshman Louis Berini (Bahama, NC) and Sophomore Moses Lopez (Fort Lauderdale, FL) recorded RBI’s to trim the advantage to three runs. The Monarchs were able to get a run back, but in the top of the ninth the Pride staged a comeback, as Senior Connor Morehouse (Kansas City, MO), Lopez and Junior Adam Weber (Mebane, NC) helped Greensboro tie the game at 7-7. However, Methodist would walk-off the game in their half of the ninth inning to secure the win, 8-7.

Greensboro was led by Sophomore Samuel Hayen, who finished 3-4 with two runs, while Morehouse was 2-5 with two RBI’s and two runs. In addition, Weber finished 2-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.

The Pride will return to action on Friday, April 7th as they host Pfeiffer University at Truist Point Stadium in High Point. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
