New York Yankees pitchers Domingo German(former Greensboro Grasshopper) and Luis Severino had more than $300,000 worth of property stolen during burglaries at their Tampa, Fla.-area homes during the 2022 season.

Per Cohen’s report, a “recently released Hillsborough County document” says that “just before 5 a.m. on Aug. 19, 2022, four people entered German’s home in Thonotosassa.”

According to a search warrant affidavit, “multiple purses and watches valued at approximately $20,000” were stolen.

“Surveillance video showed the suspects wearing hoods, masks and gloves, and driving a Penske rental van,” Cohen wrote.

While the break-ins are still an “open investigation,” the warrant affidavit notes that the burglary at German’s home “is similar to another residential burglary” that took place on June 1 and June 3 last year at Severino’s home in Tarpon Springs.

The Tampa Bay Times reporter said that Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at Severino’s home, and per the search warrant, “more than $300,000 worth of jewelry, accessories and other valuables were stolen.”

“The burglaries of the two players’ homes were linked through cellphone logs, according to the warrant affidavit, which was filed to obtain data from the cell phone of a person identified as a potential suspect,” Cohen wrote.

The search warrant concluded that due to “multiple links” between the two cases, it’s “likely” that the break-ins were “committed by the same group of suspects.”

The Yankees had home games on June 3 and Aug. 19 against the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays, respectively, and had a home contest scheduled for June 1 against the Los Angeles Angels that was postponed.

Now in his sixth MLB season (all with New York), German finds himself as an important part of the team’s starting rotation due to injuries. Severino is currently on the injured list and hasn’t pitched yet this season.
