Pride finish weekend series with NC Wesleyan

Rocky Mount, NC – On Sunday, the Greensboro College Baseball team completed a three game weekend series with North Carolina Wesleyan University. After falling in the first two games, the Pride were looking to get back into the win column to keep pace with qualifying for the post season tournament. While Greensboro was able to get their offense going, they would ultimately fall to the Battling Bishops by a final score of 11-5.

Sophomore Myles Vacharasin (Land O’ Lakes, FL) put the Pride on the scoreboard first, with a two RBI single to left field, but NC Wesleyan answered to tie the game at 2-2. In the top of the third inning, Vacharasin would do it again when he earned an RBI with a sacrifice play to help Greensboro regain the advantage, 3-2. Unfortunately, the Battling Bishops were able to cross the plate eight straight times to open up the lead and despite a homerun from Freshman Evan Sykes (Graham, NC) and an RBI single by Louis Berini (Bahama, NC) the Pride would fall, 11-5.

Greensboro was led by Sykes who finished 3-4 with an RBI, a run and a double., while Berini, went 2-2 with an RBI.

The Pride will return to action on Tuesday, April 18th when they host Pfeiffer University at Ted Leonard Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm.
