GREENSBORO, N.C.– The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team heads to Provo, Utah for a non-conference three-game series against BYU.

Last Time Out
UNCG fell to Gardner-Webb, 8-3, in a non-conference battle on Tuesday.
Daniel Cerda hit a leadoff home run for his fourth home run of the season.
Cerda went 2-for-5 on the day and Luke Jenkins went 2-for-4 at the plate, they were the only Spartans with a multi-hit game.
Julien Peissel pitched four innings only allowing two hits and no runs against the 14 batters faced.

Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans are 17-20 overall and 5-7 in SoCon play.
UNCG is leading the conference in double plays (35), and double plays per game (0.95). Second in the conference in base on balls (190), and shutouts (2).
Nationally, the Spartans are 10th in double plays, 16th in double plays per game, 51st in base on balls, 55th in hit by pitch (55), 55th in stolen bases (56), 72nd in stolen bases per game (1.51) and 78th in sacrifice flies (17),
GC Jarman is nationally ranked 63rd and third in the conference in sacrifice flies (4).
Kennedy Jones is leading the Spartans with a batting average of .342 (51-for-149) in the 37 games, with six doubles, 28 RBIs, and one triple.
Jones, along with Cerda (.320) and Zack Budzik (.304) are the three Spartans batting over .300.
Dosi Jonas is second in the conference in runs batted in per game (1.14).
Nationally, Jonas is 99th in runs batted in per game.
Budzik is 85th nationally in stolen bases (15).
In 49.1 innings pitched, Jake Wolf has a 4.38 ERA with 27 strikeouts and just 33 runs allowed. He is 2-2 on the mound with one save.
Jonas leads the Spartans with eight home runs, while Jones has hit seven. Caleb Cozart has hit five. Rowan Watt, Cerda and Dallas Callahan have hit four home runs, while Mitchell Smith has hit three home runs. Budzik has two home runs and Bradley Bott has one.
Nine Spartans have double-figure RBI, with Jonas leading the team with 33 of the 202 RBIs.

Scouting the BYU Cougars
Coming off a 29-14 loss against Utah, BYU is 14-21 overall and 7-8 in the West Coast Conference (WCC).
The Cougars are first in the WCC in base on balls (163), doubles (80), doubles per game (2.29), home runs (48), home runs per game (1.37), slugging percentage (0.468), and triple plays (1).
Nationally BYU is first in triple plays, 25th in doubles per game, 29th in doubles, 50th in hit batters, 56th in shutouts, 72nd in home runs per game, and 74th in home runs.
Carter Smith is second in the WCC and nationally 45th in hit batters (10).
Austin Deming leads the Cougars with a batting average of .385 (37-for-29) in the 25 games played, with 12 doubles, 10 home runs, and 36 RBIs.
Deming is one of five Cougars to have a batting average over .300, Luke Anderson (.371), Parker Goff (.321), Ryan Sepede (3.17), and Cole Gambill (.302) are the others.
In the 33 innings pitched Ben Hansen has an era of 4.09 with 34 hits, 26 runs, and 27 strikeouts.
BYU has 25 double plays so far this season.
