GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team will rematch the 2022 Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament Champions the Chattanooga Mocs for a three-game series this weekend at Frost Stadium.

The Spartans enter the contest 26-18 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while the Mocs are 21-19 overall and 4-5 in the SoCon.

LAST TIME OUT

· UNCG fell to No. 10 Duke, 8-1, on Wednesday.

· The Spartans scored their only run with a bases-loaded walk in the top of the third.

· UNCG held the Blue Devils, 3-1, through 5.5 innings.

· Delaney Cumbie went for 2-for-3 at the plate.

QUICK SPARTAN HITS

Chartrand leads the Spartans with a .371 batting average.
Chartrand also leads UNCG with 69 total strikeouts in the circle after pitching 81.1 innings thus far.
Brooklynn Maxwell is second with a .323 batting average and leading the team with 11 doubles. Cumbie also has 11 doubles.
Jessie Shipley paces the Spartans with 29 RBI.
Maycin Brown leads UNCG with nine home runs.
Rhyann Jones is 8-2 in the circle and leads the team with a 2.86 ERA.
Maddie Spell has seven wins (7-5) and has tossed a team-best 90.2 innings.
Nationally, the Spartans are: first in walks (196), fourth in double plays per game (0.55), 21st in home runs (52), 24th in home runs per game (1.18), 57th in slugging percentage (0.448), 60th in scoring (5.18), 64th in doubles (55).
UNCG is leading the conference in 10 categories including: double plays per game, doubles, doubles per game, home runs per game, on base percentage, scoring, shutouts, slugging percentage, win-loss percentage, and walks.
Delaney Cumbie is third nationally in walks per game (0.91), while Samantha Lagrama joins her in the top 40 and is 35th in walks per game (0.69).
Cumbie is 61st in on-base percentage (0.491) and 73rd in runs per game (0.89).
Cumbie was named SoCon Player of the Week twice so far this season, while Spell has been voted SoCon Pitcher of the Week twice, and Jones earned SoCon Pitcher of the Week once and Jorde Chartrand was named SoCon Player of the Week most recently.

SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA

The Mocs were voted to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll.
Emily Coltharp was named SoCon Preseason Player of the Year.
Brooke Parrott and Coltharp were voted to the first team, while Kailey Snell, Adison Keylon, and Kendall Forsythe were named to the second team.
Parrott is currently leading the SoCon with 4.96 hits allowed per seven innings, while Taylor Long is first with three saves and 7.7 strikeouts per seven innings.
Long is leading the team with a 2.60 ERA in 59.1 innings.
Kaili Phillips is leading the Mocs with a .344 batting average swinging 33-for-96 at the plate.
Acelynn Sellers has a team-best 31 RBI and is one of six Mocs with double figure RBI.
Keylon has a team-high eight home runs, while Phillips has 10 doubles.
Coltharp has successfully stolen 11 for 13 bases this season.
In the circle, Parrott has tossed 72.0 innings, giving up just 51 hits.
Peja Goold has a record of 7-7 in the circle with three complete games in 70.2 innings.

HISTORY VS. CHATTANOOGA

Chattanooga leads the all-time series 60-30.

During the regular season, UNCG swept Chattanooga in Greensboro with scores of 9-4, 5-3, and 3-2 in nine innings.

The Mocs then defeated the Spartans twice during the SoCon Tournament. The first win was a 10-2 five-inning victory and then Chattanooga defeated UNCG 9-7 in eight innings to win the 2022 SoCon Championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
