Pride drop out of conference match-up with No. 6 Lynchburg, 6-3

Lynchburg, VA- – After winning four straight USA South Athletic Conference games, the Greensboro College Baseball team headed up north to Virginia for an out of conference match-up with ODAC member and #6 nationally ranked University of Lynchburg. The game would be tied in the seventh inning but the Pride would ultimately fall to the Hornets, 6-3.

After three scoreless innings, Sophomore Samuel Hayen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) came to the plate in the top of the fourth inning and blasted a two RBI homerun to give Greensboro the early lead, 2-0. Lynchburg answered in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game and then in their half of the fifth inning, the Hornets were able to take their first advantage of the game, 3-2. However, Freshman Louis Berini (Bahama, NC) tied the game with an RBI single to score Sophomore Cam Watts (Kernersville, NC).

The game would not stay tied for very long, as Lynchburg was able to put together three runs to regain the lead and the Pride would fall to Lynchburg by a score of 6-3.

Greensboro was led by Freshman Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) who finished the game 2-5, while Hayen had a home run and Bereni added an RBI.

The Pride will play their final series of the regular season, beginning Saturday, April 29th as they travel to Brevard College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00pm.
