RE/MAX Revolution Report:Greensboro Grasshoppers’ Mike Jarvis just a Single Shy of Hitting for the Cycle, as Hoppers top Rome Braves in Game Two of Doubleheader

Courtesy of RE/MAX Revolution the Top Real Estate Sales Team in the Triad…..

from Saturday night in Game Two of a Doubleheader, between the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Rome Braves, at First National Bank Field:
Greensboro Grasshoppers 9, Rome Braves 4
WP:Mitchell Miller(3-1)/LP:Luis Vargas(0-2)

Hoppers-9-8-1
Braves- 4-6-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers(13-7)/Rome Braves(8-11)

The Grasshoppers hit four Home Runs in this game, with Mike Jarvis, Tsung-Che Cheng, Hudson Head, and Maikol Escotto all connecting on the long ball…Jarvis with a Two-Run HR, Cheng a Three-Run HR, Head a Two-Run HR, and Escotto a Solo HR…These home runs accounted for eight of the Hoppers nine runs…

A very memorable night for the Hoppers’ Mike Jarvis, as he had a Home Run his first at-bat, he came up with a Triple during his second at-bat, and then he Doubled in his third at-bat…Jarvis was just a Single shy of The Cycle, and they say the Triple is the hardest part of The Cycle to pull off, but Jarvis got that part out of the way during his second at-bat…He just needed the Single, but he did not get to come up to the plate for a fourth time in the ballgame…Jarvis with HR in the first inning, the Triple in the third inning, and his double came in the fourth inning…Jarvis was working his hitting cycle in descending order…Going from the four-bagger to the three, to the two…But, he did not get a chance to make that Single happen…

Jarvis with almost an unreal game, but he still goes three-for-three at the plate, with three RBI, and two runs scored…Again, he had the homer, the triple, and the double in this game…It was quite the Saturday at the ole’ ballpark for Jarvis, since he was getting warmed up for Game Two, in Game One of the doubleheader, as he went 2-3, with a solo Home Run, a Single, and two runs scored in Game One of the Double Dip…On this day/Saturday, Jarvis was 5-6, with two HR’s, a Triple, a Double, and a Single….Overall on Saturday, Jarvis with four RBI, and four Runs Scored…Not a bad day at all for our Steak n Shake Player of the Day/Games…Still just blows my mind, that Jarvis nearly hit for The Cycle, in a seven-inning game…

More from the Hopper hitters in Game Two…Cheng was 1-4, with his three-run HR…Hudson Head was 2-3, with two RBI, and 2 runs scored…Head’s home run was to right field, and that ball was a sight to behold as it left the ballyard…Just a beautiful ball to watch as it was launched into deep right field, and to see it stay fair was such a good feeling…Feeling good for Hudson for that solid at-bat…Maikol Escotto went 1-3, with his solo HR…Luke Brown was 1-3, with a run scored….

The Hoppers utilized five men from their pitching staff to pull of this Game Two, 9-4 victory…Valentin Linarez got the start and he was fairly strong, but he only lasted three and a-third innings…Mitchell Miller came on in relief of Linarez, and Miller picked up the win, after just going for 2/3’s of an inning…A true ‘vulture win’ for Miller…The Hoppers got an inning of work each from Brad Case, Will Kobos, and Eddy Yean…Linarez gave up one run to the Braves, but the Braves really jumped on Eddy Yean hard in the seventh inning, with Yean having to face eight Brave batters, before he could close out the inning, and the game…Yean gave up three of the Braves’ four runs, allowing the three runs on three hits, with a BB, and a hit by pitch…Eddy was not sharp, but he did survive…The nod for the top Hopper pitcher in the game would go to the Grasshoppers’ Will Kobos, who got the Braves, three-up/three-down in the top of sixth inning…Coming in from the bullpen, Brad Case got scuffed up some, but ended up only having to face four Brave batters, with Case hitting a batter, giving up a Rome single, and then picking up a strikeout, and he induced a Braves’ double-play ground ball, that got Case out of trouble, and out of the fifth inning….

The top Rome Braves hitter in Game Two was Ignacio Alvarez, who was 1-3 at the plate, with one run scored, and two big RBI, giving his 19 RBI for the season…Nineteen Runs Batted In now for Alvarez, but he has zero home runs in 2023….

That should put a wrap on Game Two for us, but do want to leave you with some game details…
