Pride earn #2 seed in USA South Tournament and will host games at Barber Park, May 4th – 6th

Greensboro, NC – The Greensboro College Softball team has officially earned the #2 seed in this week’s USA South Athletic Conference tournament. With the #2 seed, the Pride will host one of the two, four team double elimination sessions at Penn-Wright Stadium at Barber Park. On Thursday, May 4th, #2 Greensboro will face the #7 Methodist University at 2:00pm, followed by #3 NC Wesleyan and #6 Mary Baldwin at 4:00pm. The remaining games are as follows:

Friday, May 5
Game 3: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 – 12:00pm
Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 – 2:00pm
Game 5: Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4 – 4:00pm

Saturday, May 6
Game 6: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5 – 2:00pm
Game 7 (if necessary): Same teams as Game 6 – 4:00pm

The Pride finished the season with an overall record of 30-8 and a USA South Conference record of 14-4. They are led offensively by Sophomore Kelsey Craven (Ramseur, NC), who is leading the team and the conference with a batting average of .443, with 47 hits, 24 RBI’s and 2 home runs, while Senior Kassie Simmons (Gibsonville, NC) is hitting .390, with 41 hits, 35 RBI’s and 2 home runs. On mound, Junior Lauren Engel (Huntersville, NC) leads the USA South with a record of 17-2, with 61 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.01. In addition, Simmons has an overall record of 12-5 with 83 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.81.
