BASEBALL Scores:
Mid-State 3-A Conference Baseball Tournament Semifinals at Eastern Guilford HS:
Eastern Guilford 12, Dudley 2…5 Innings
WP:Jackson Jones/LP:Savoi Edwards
EG(17-6)/Dudley(12-8)
Eastern Guilford(17-6) will now host the Rockingham County Cougars(17-6) in the Championship Game of the Mid-State 3-A Conference Tournament, and that game will played tomorrow/Friday, with the first pitch due in at EG, at 6pm…Wildcats vs. Cougars for the Conference Tournament Title, on Friday night at the Eastern Guilford baseball field…
(Rockingham County Cougars over the WS Atkins Camels, 2-1, in today’s other Mid-State 3-A Semifinal matchup.)

For today’s semifinal matchup, Dudley took a 2-0 at the end of the First Inning…Kadon McNeil and Nigel Robinson both scored for the Dudley Panthers in the top of the First Inning, to give the Panthers the early lead…Dudley was able to get to EG starter Jonathan Sendziak, as the Panthers got a BB by Kadon McNeil, a SAC Fly from Savoi Edwards, then an RBI single from Nigel Robinson, plus another RBI single, this coming from Junior Edwards, and Dudley was up 2-0…Dudley picked up a single from Tommy Westbrook and Josiah Lowe walked in the Top of the Second Inning, and Sendziak was pulled for Jackson Jones, and when Jones came in, he shut the Dudley Panthers down, and he put the EG Wildcats back on course…

Eastern Guilford head coach Kevin Jones said that pitching change was a major key to the game…Coach Jones said his starter Sendziak had been sick, and he was still weak, and that Sendziak had also lost some weight…This was the sort of illness that would effect Sendziak’s pithing, but not necessarily his hitting, when he came to the plate…Sendziak was also trying to avenge a loss to Dudley earlier in the season, but it was not his time, on Thursday…Jackson Jones had pitched well vs. Dudley, and he sure was tough today/tonight…Coach Kevin Jones, said his nephew Jackson Jones, has really stepped up in the postseason….

Coach Kevin Jones has been coaching football and baseball at Eastern Guilford for 14 years, either as an assistant coach or head coach in baseball, and as an assistant coach in football…Coach Jones is currently the offensive coordinator for the EG Wildcats football team…

With the football team in mind, All-Guilford County football player Braxton Veiga got the Eastern Guilford offense going today in our baseball game…Coach Jones said Veiga has been swinging the bat very well from the middle of the lineup, and that Braxton is very strong, and when he gets around on the pitch, the baseball is going to be going places…Veiga came up with a Double to centerfield his first at bat today, and later on, came around and scored the first run of the game for EG…In his second at-bat, Veiga clouted a Home Run to deep centerfield and he drove in two runs with that blast…In his third at-bat, Veiga posted a single, and when he got on, he stole a base…

Coach Jones said Veiga’s big swing on his two-run HR, that was a turning point in the game…In the fourth inning, Eastern Guilford got another big shot in the arm, as Jonathan Sendziak shot a Three-Run Home Run to center, and Sendziak’s blast led to a six-run inning for EG, there in the fourth…EG was up, 10-2, after four…Veiga and Sendziak, both going LONG for EG on this Thursday…
Coach Jones told us Sendziak has a lot of pop in his bat, and that he can be, “That Guy” on offense and on defense for the Eastern Guilford Wildcats baseball team…

The Eastern Guilford dugout kept on yelling about Unleashing the Dragon, and I guess that’s what they were doing when they sent those baseballs over the centerfield fence…Easter Guilford was also Unleashing the Dragon, when they had Jackson Jones out there on the mound, to win and finish the ballgame…According to our numbers, Jackson Jones gave up 0 Runs, on 0 Hits, with two BB’s, and three K’s, over his four full innings of work, on the hill…A very efficient outing for Jackson Jones, and he was backed up by his EG Wildcats…

Eastern Guilford coach Kevin Jones feels like the Rockingham County Cougars are playing their best baseball of the season right now, so Friday’s Championship Game, vs. The ROCK, is going to be tough contest…The RC Cougars have been getting better and better all season long…Coach Jones said Coach Apple, the head man for the Cougars, is doing a great job up there, and Coach Jones told us this afternoon, that after the limited pitch count that EG saw from Jonathan Sendziak, if Sendziak feels ready, he could trot him back out there again, on Friday afternoon….Sendziak has plenty of pitches left in his arsenal…

On Thursday, the Dudley Panthers got 3 1/3 innings from their starting pitcher Savoi Edwards…Edwards gave up 10 of the EG Wildcats 12 runs, and Edwards took the loss…Dudley reliever Bradon Jeffries came on and worked the final 1 1/3 innings, with Jeffries allowing the final two runs to the EG Wildcats, in the bottom of the fifth inning…

Here we go with a pop out of the Game’s Total Numbers…
