It was a nerve-racking finish out at Northwest Guilford High School tonight, where the NWG Vikings topped the WS Reagan Raiders, 3-2, in eight innings….Northwest Guilford got a Game-Winning single from their first baseman Jackson Godfrey, and Godfrey’s single was a ground ball down the right field line, and it scored the Vikings Bristol Carter, from third base, with the Game-Winning Run…

WS Reagan took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a home run to dead center field, by the WS Reagan Raiders’ Mason Middleton…Reagan kept that 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Northwest’s Carter slapped a two-run double, that scored the Vikings’ Tanner Brewer and Carter Jackson…
NWG up 2-1 at the end of five innings, and they held on to that lead, until the top of seventh, when Reagan got a pinch hit single from Graham Wagner and the Raiders scored to tie the game up at 2-2, and the Raiders took that comeback a step further, by loading the bases in the top of the seventh, with the game all tied up at 2-2…But NWG came on with their reliever Justin Webb, and he struck out the Raiders for the third out and then we went into the extra innings…
In extra innings, and that is where Northwest got a leadoff single from Bristol Carter, then Carson Shelton followed Carter with another NWG single, and then Blaize Johnson singled too, to load up the bases for the Vikings in the bottom of the eighth inning, and that set the table for Jackson Godfrey’s Game-Winning RBI, with that ground-ball single to right field, and Godfrey makes Northwest a Winner, and the Vikings now move on to the NCHSAA 4-A West Baseball Regional Championship….
NWG now at (26-5) on the season, and the Winning Pitcher tonight for Northwest, was Justin Webb….WS Reagan finished their season at (21-7)…LP for Reagan was Jonathan Lobs…
