Former Northeast Guilford HS football player Joel Oakley appointed Guilford County District Court judge by Governor Roy Cooper

Former Northeast Guilford Ram Joel Oakley could always walk tall and he carried a big stick…He wasn’t a big kid, but he played bigger than his size allowed, and he used to play football for the NEG Rams, back in his younger days out on Hicone Road…Joel also got into playing rugby, when he attended Appalachian State University, and as time went on, he got more and more involved in rugby, and he became a very serious rugby player…

The man might have been small, but he gave it his all, and he is still doing that same thing, even today…He is a very tough competitor, but he has earned the reputation as being tough and fair…Lots of wisdom gained on the part of Joel Oakley, as he has practiced law for many years in the Greensboro area….Joel Oakley used to advertise here at GreensboroSports.com, so you can see his wisdom even reaches and extends being the benches you find on the football fields, on the rugby fields like the old fields over at Latham Park, just off of Wendover Avenue, and that wisdom attained even reaches beyond the benches in the Guilford County Courthouse….

It has been an interesting road/journey, but I guess you can say, “Joel Oakley has paid his dues, and Joel Oakley has arrived”…..When the governor comes calling, we all have to start falling, in line…And Joel Oakley will be fine, as he puts on his robe, and shares the wisdom of Job, in the halls of justice….

Congratulations Joel Oakley, and we will be rooting for you, as you take your game to the highest level of Law and Order….
