Steak n Shake Players of the Game-Sammy Siani with the Game-Wining RBI, Shawn Ross with the Game-Winning Run, Tres Gonzalez goes 2-4/Run…Cy Nielson earned his sixth Save of the season, pitching the ninth inning for the Grasshoppers, and giving up 0 Runs, on 0 Hits, with 0 BB’s, and Two very big strikeouts…

Hoppers with just five hits on the night, and those five hits, were all big hits…Gonzalez got two of them, going 2-4, Tsung-Che Cheng was 1-4, with a Double, Shawn Ross was 1-3, with that Game-Winning Run scored…Will Matthiessen went 1-2/SAC Fly/RBI…Wyatt Hendrie was 0-1/2 BB’s…Sammy Siani went 0-2/SAC Fly/Game-Winning RBI…

One run in the fourth inning, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers led tis game early-on, 1-0…Jordy Barley scored for the Blue Rocks in the top of the fifth inning, to make the score, 1-1…Barley reached on a fielding error by Hoppers’ starting pitcher Anthony Solometo, then Barley proceeded to steal second base, he took third on a passed ball, and then Barley scored on a ground-out to the second baseman, by Wilmington’s Jared McKenzie…And that was the only run the Blue Rocks would score the entire night…

Greensboro’s first run, back in the fourth inning came after Tres Gonzalez reached on a lead-off single, then he took off and ended up on third base, after Tsung Che-Cheng cracked a Double…They Gonzalez scored when Will Matthiessen smacked a SAC Fly RBI…Matthiessen’s SAC Fly brought Gonzalez in to score…

And in the seventh inning, when the Grasshoppers scored their second, and game-winning run, Shawn Ross started things off with a single, that came on a ground ball deep into the hole at shortstop, Ross moved on over to second base when Will Matthiessen came up with a flare single to right field, then Ross moved to third base when Hoppers’ catcher Wyatt Hendrie walked…This loaded up the bases with Grasshoppers, and then Sammy Siani poked a fly ball to Jeremy De La Rosa, the Blue Rocks center fielder, and the fly ball by Siani with one out, was deep enough to score Ross from third base, and as Ross touched home plate, the Greensboro Grasshoppers had all the lead that they would need, and the Hoppers go on to win this contest, 2-1…..

The Greensboro Grasshoppers put four pitchers to work on this Tuesday evening, and the work that they turned in, was more than sufficient…Anthony Solometo gave the Hoppers a very solid and steady start, and he went six innings, allowing the one run by Jordy Barley, while the left-hander Solometo gave up a total of five hits, plus he walked one batter, and struck out four Blue Rock hitters…Solometo did his job, and that job required him to limit the damage, and that is exactly what Anthony Solometo was able to do…

Santiago Florez took over for Solometo in the seventh inning, and Florez ended up going an inning and a-third giving up no runs, on no hits, with no walks and two strikeouts…Mitchell Miller worked two thirds of an inning, and Miller gave up no runs, on no hits, with one walk and one strikeout…Then Cy Nielson nailed it all down, finishing up things in the ninth inning, as Nielson had to only face three batters, and he got them 1-2-3…Nielson struck out the lead-off batter in the ninth, Jeremy De La Rosa, then he got TJ White to pop up to Tsung-Che Cheng in shallow right field, and the last man Nielson would face, Matt Suggs, Cy got Suggs to strike out swinging….

Solid pitching all the way around by the Greensboro Grasshoppers and it was really a strong job by the Hoppers’ bullpen, as they did not allow any runs, and gave up No Hits….Of the five hits total on the night by Wilmington, the Blue Rocks came up with three Doubles, and two singles…The Rocks got Doubles from De La Rosa, Barley and from McKenzie…The singles came from the Rocks’ Trey Lipscomb, and from Will Frizzell…It was one hit each for those five Blue Rock batters, and all of the Rocks’ hits came off of Greensboro starter Solometo, over his six frames of work….
