Gomez Makes First Start at Polar Park, Nail Makes Triple-A Debut in Victory
In his Polar Park debut, Rio Gomez posted the following line: 3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. The left-hander allowed a game-tying solo home run to Travis Blankenhorn in the fourth, and after a strikeout and double, was lifted from the game.
The WooSox went to Brendan Nail, who made his Triple-A debut out of the bullpen. Rochester added two more in the inning on a throwing error and a Carter Kieboom triple, but Nail was excellent from that point on. The 27-year-old allowed two total runs over 3.2 innings, striking out six and earning the win.
(Nail overall going the 3 2/3’s innings, allowing the two runs on three hits, with 2 BB’s/6 K’s, and he gave up one home run. And he got the Win for Worcester.)
Six(6) big K’s for Nail in his Triple A debut…Two years ago, I was announcing a game at First National Bank Field, here in Greensboro, where Brendan Nail was pitching for the Greenville Drive, the Red Sox High Class A team, and Nail was facing the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and now Nail is at the Triple A level, and he is Winning for Worcester….
Congrats to the kid from Page High School, and Greensboro, N.C., with Brendan Nail now just one step away from the major league level, with the Boston Red Sox, in the MLB…
